William Durward Flora

November 25, 1934 – March 30, 2025

William Durward Flora was a proud, lifelong resident of Alvin, Texas. There he built his beautiful family with his high school sweetheart and bride Peggy Ann (Hensler)Flora. Driven by passion for his work, he supported his family by building Clearlake Sand and Fill, as well as DDT Excavating, both productive businesses with his brothers. In his spare time, he also enjoyed investing in the American dream of oil production and buying oil wells. He had a passion for the great outdoors, particularly deer hunting where many family memories were made on the deer lease. He was active in ministry including opening Alvin Christian Center with his brothers and spoke to everyone about the goodness of God. The Gospel lead his family and life until the day he left this earth.

Known to many as Durward, Daddy, Papa, and Papa G. He kept an active life, supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren in their sports passions. Whether he was sitting in the stands for baseball, football, soccer, gymnastics, or riding in a golf cart all day on the course, he showed up. He was blessed to witness his family grow tremendously while on this earth 90 years.

Durward went home on March 30, 2025, to meet our King Jesus and be reunited with his bride Peggy, his father and mother, Raymond and Georgia Flora, and grandchildren, Sommer and Misty Flora.

He is survived by his son Donovan Flora (wife Cindy) and daughter Cheryl Ann Loftin; grandchildren Donny Flora (wife Brandy), Justin Ray Loftin (wife Erica Lee), Tyler Clayton Loftin (wife Alyssa Mae) and great grandchildren, Zane Thomas Flora (wife Kaitlyn Rae), Krysta Aadi Loftin, Alina Rae Loftin, Charlie Ann Jeffers, Barrett Flora, Mia Peggy Loftin, and bonus grandson Rory Collins (wife Katherine) and their expectant baby Rosemary Lynn, and bonus granddaughter Kinsley Rae Pilkington.

His life and legacy will live on through the family he created and loved.

Friends and family are cordially invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 10:00 AM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home 311 North Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.
