Joan Benford, 86, of Pearland, Texas, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at her home in Pearland.
Joan was born on October 22, 1939, in Paris, Texas, to Albert Usher and Willie Louise Parsons. She grew up in Boswell, Oklahoma, and lived most of her adult life in Texas.
She obtained her Texas real estate license and worked in the profession for 30 years.
A lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas, Joan faithfully served her parish, including as Senior Warden. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking delicious meals, visiting the beauty and nail salons, dining out, and shopping.
Joan is survived by her husband, Ron Washburn; her brother, Gene Usher Parsons; her daughters, Elizabeth Taylor (Kent Taylor) and Rebecca Benford; her grandchildren, Justin Taylor (Jamie Taylor), Amanda Miles (John Randall Miles), Christina Goodman (Joshua Goodman), and Charles Hutchens; and her great-grandchildren, Grace and Cole Taylor; Allison, Abigail, and Annalynn Miles; and Rylee Goodman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Usher and Willie Louise Parsons; her husband, Royden Benford; her siblings, Melba, Deward, Arden, and Reginal Parsons; and her son-in-law, Anthony Passante.
A visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00 a.m for visitation and 11:00 a.m. service start at Jeter Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas, for a memorial fund in Joan’s name.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Attar, Joan’s physicians, and the hospice care team for their compassionate care and support.
Our beloved Mama, we and all who loved you will carry you in our hearts forever—your laughter, your uncanny sense of humor, your wisdom, and the love, light, and brightness you brought into our lives. We know you are happy now, held in the arms of Jesus Christ, with God and the Holy Spirit.

I am so sorry to hear this. She would light up a room. I am so glad her grands knew her. She will always be missed.
I enjoyed working with Joan for many years in real estate. She was a true friend, very professional and we shared a lot of good times. May God be with all her family at this time, giving them comfort knowing she is with her Heavenly Father.
