Russell Craig "Rusty" Smith

December 19, 1968 – September 25, 2021

Russell Craig “Rusty” Smith, 52, of Webster passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021.  Rusty was born December 19, 1968 to Willian Bryan and Sherry Ann Smith from Friendswood, Texas. He attended Friendswood ISD schools and graduated Friendswood High School class of 1987. After high school Rusty joined the US Navy and completed his basic training in Orlando, Florida where after he served aboard the USS Constellation. After serving his country Rusty enjoyed careers in both security and over-the-road truck driving as well as serving the city of Friendswood as a volunteer fire fighter. 

Rusty was a kind and gentle man who never met a stranger. He loved his family, was a good Christian and proud of his faith. He loved hunting, fishing, the Dallas Cowboys and Texas A&M football and the United States Navy. Whenever the Cowboys or Aggies won he would call and say “How ‘bout them Cowboys “or “Gig’em” and he tried to never miss the Army-Navy football game. He loved the outdoors and the beautiful things in nature evidence by his many Facebook postings of exotic birds, animals and fish species. He had a knack for trivia and was often called a master of little known facts. 

Rusty was preceded in death by his mother Sherry Ann Smith and Uncle Pete Thompson.

Rusty is survived by his father Bryan Smith, step mother Sherridan Smith, brother Scott Smith and wife Amy and nephew Will. Also by brother Jason Smith and wife Angela, nephews Alexander, Zachary and niece Penelope. Additionally by aunts Rosemary Dann and husband Charles, and Sue Thompson, and Uncle Danny Thompson and wife Cathy along with numerous cousins.

Rusty was a special son, stepson, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and nephew. He was loved by all and will be missed by all. Rest in peace with the Lord.

Friends are cordially invited to attend a visitation with the family at 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546. 

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood, Friendswood, TX 77546, with Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. officiating, with the burial to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.

    We are so very sorry that you have lost Rusty. Your great confidence is that he is how in the arms of his mom, Sherry. That is the hope and promise of our faith.
