In Loving Memory

Royal O. Millen

September 26, 1937 – February 2, 2022

Royal Owen Millen, 84, passed on into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in Webster, Texas.  A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, he was loved by all who knew him.

Royal was born September 26, 1937, the second child to Ella and Howard Millen and was raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and loved singing and leading the worship service for many years.  He married his precious wife, Dianne Snow Tullis, in 1959.  Together, they raised six children and enjoyed taking their family to South Padre Island every year.  He worked for over 45 years for Southwestern Bell.  On his time off, he enjoyed bowling with his wife, softball and being involved with his children’s activities.

Royal was a fearless advocate for his family whom he loved endlessly and was so proud of.  After his retirement, he and Dianne built their home in New Braunfels where his family continued to gather for holidays, river floats and many other adventures. He loved working in the yard and visiting and laughing with family.  Royal loved and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and knew his final home would be with Jesus in Heaven. He was a treasure to his family, whom will miss his smile, laughter and strength but know they will see him again.  They are grateful for the gift of knowing and loving him and that the Lord was gracious to send the Holy Spirit to gather him so peacefully into eternal life.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, June Snow Millen, a sister, Maxine Matthews, and his parents, Howard Earl Millen and Ella Ida Entz Millen.

Celebrating his life and remembering him always is his devoted wife, Dianne; his five sons, Royal E. (Rhonda), Jason (Georganne), Arthur (Diane), Gregory (Carli) and Burdette (Shannon); his grandchildren, Royal A. (Joel), Tyler (Kendall), Jason A., Matthew, Meagan, Ryan, Olive, Emme, Holden, Payton Roberts (Madeline), Ashlyn Arnold (Alex) and Preston Roberts (Kirsten); and his great-grandchildren, Luke and Eden Millen, Corley Jane and Eden Roberts, and Scarlett and Stevie Arnold; his brother, Earl Millen (Carolyn) and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.

The visitation will be held Monday, February 7, 2022 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, Friendswood, Texas.  Graveside services will be held Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. at Roselawn Cemetery and Mausoleum, McAllen, Texas.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society online at givenow.lls.org or by check to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, P.O. Box 22324, New York, NY  10087.
