Neil Maurice Tyler

October 27, 1937 – June 3, 2025

Neil Maurice Tyler, 87, of Pearland, Texas passed away on June 3, 2025.  He was born October 27, 1937 to Harry Clark Tyler and Ruby Lucille Housman Tyler in Miami, Oklahoma where he grew up and attended school.

He met a girl named Linda Sue Hutchens at the skating rink, they became high school sweethearts and later married in Commerce, Oklahoma.  They were married for 69 years.

After serving in the United States Army, Neil and Linda lived in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.  In 1964, they moved to Alvin, Texas where he worked for Monsanto and raised their 3 children.  After his retirement from Monsanto, they moved to Pearland.  Neil enjoyed family trips, playing golf, and mowing his two acres.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Lora Lea Tyler; twin brothers, Jay Hugh Tyler and Joe Dane Tyler and sister, Mary Helen Tyler Dukeshire.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Hutchens Tyler; daughter, Debbie Tyler Garland; son, Bret Tyler; sister, Patsy Ann Tyler Gilstrap of Norman, Oklahoma; grandsons, Timothy Garland (Genevieve) and Jon Garland (Serena); granddaughters, Allison Butler Stevens (Gavin), Gabriella Tyler and Breah Tyler; great grandchildren, Noah Grant Garland, Natalie Grace Garland, Norah Greer Garland, Avery Rae Garland, Luke Mason Garland, Wesley James Stevens and Layne Robert Stevens.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 10:00 A.M. with a memorial service following at 11:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Dr. David Lorenz officiating.

  1. I have known Neil and Linda since 1964. They were great friends of my parents and Betty and Jerry Smith. Our families enjoyed many memories over the years! Neil had a great smile and I know he loved golf! Sending hugs to Linda and her family.

  2. Linda and family, I was just checking the obits as I do every once in awhile and ran across Neil's. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Been many years since we were neighbors. I ran into Neil and Bret a few years ago at Wal Mart in Friendswood during the Holiday's. Prayers for all the family. Don and Mollie Wright
