November 4, 1954 – March 7, 2026
Mickey Cleveland Fountain, 71, of Trinity, Texas, passed away on March 7, 2026, in Friendswood, Texas. He was born on November 4, 1954, in Vidor, Texas, to Floyd Cleveland and Johnnie Elowease Fountain. Mickey was deeply devoted to his family, faith, and church, and was known for the lasting impact he made on those around him. He had a lifelong love of bluegrass music and enjoyed playing and teaching others to play stringed instruments. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and horseback riding.
Mickey attended Warren High School, graduated from Iron Working School, and worked for many years as an iron worker. His career included offshore work, carpentry, and other skilled labor before he began an 18-year career with the Texas Department of Corrections. He later answered God’s calling to ministry and served as Music Minister and Deacon at Carlisle Baptist Church before becoming pastor of First Baptist Church of Point Blank for 19 years. Known for his joyful spirit, Mickey never missed an opportunity to tell a good joke in his sermons, reminding everyone that faith and laughter go hand in hand.
On November 2, 1973, he married Josephine Marie Wise, with whom he shared a devoted and loving marriage of 52 years. There is no doubt that they were true soul mates from the very beginning. Mickey was a devoted father who led his children with faith, love, and a steady example of service, was deeply proud of the families they have built, and was affectionately known as “Old Fart” by those who loved him most – his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Marie Fountain; his son, Mickey Cleveland Fountain Jr., wife Meg; and his daughter, Lorrie Danielle Jones. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Zachary, Gabriel, Elizabeth, and JT Terrell, and Kelsey Brown, Julia Lowery, Brianna Fountain, Alice and Barbara Calkins; his great-grandchildren, Noah and Violette Terrell, Levi and Stella Terrell, and Esther Brown; and his siblings, Kelly Fountain and Billy Fountain. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Cleveland and Johnnie Elowease Fountain and many loved ones who welcomed him home.
A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Point Blank, 5770 US‑190, Point Blank, Texas 77364. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Point Blank, P.O. Box 409, Point Blank, Texas 77364.

My heart is so broken. Music will never be the same for me. Thankful for his guidance, love, and friendship over so many great years.
My memories will suffice until we all get to Heaven.
Prayers of deep love and peace for my sister Josey, Danielle, Mickey Jr. and their families.
This area was blessed with his preaching, teaching, singing and just everyday caring for people. We were working in a subdivision last week and a nice lady stopped and asked if we knew about services. We guess she saw the address on a sign on our truck. She had started attending 1st Baptist PB. What another testimony to Bro. Mickey of his care and concern for folks! Only eternity knows! May God give comfort to his family and his church family especially in this time of Bro Mickeys home going.
Mickey made this world a better place. I love him and Josey deeply. Heaven has gained another saint who made such an impact on so many. As happy as I know he is to see Jesus, we will miss him dearly and wait for the day we hear his music again. I will carry his messages in my heart forever. Much love and prayers for his family.
