Michael Ray McGee, lovingly known as “Mikey” or “Pawpaw”, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 1, 2025, at the age of 74. He was born in Houston, Texas on March 22, 1951 to Leah Faye and Herman Ray McGee. On May 24, 1980 he married the love of his life, Karen, and together they recently celebrated 45 years of marriage. Michael worked for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway for 47 years as a conductor. He had many passions, among them hunting, fishing, cars, woodworking and spending time outdoors. But his greatest joy was his family, specifically his children and grandchildren. He never missed a chance to be with them, building memories that will last forever. Anytime he heard the words, “I love you PawPaw” his face would light up.

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Karen McGee; sons, Stuart McGee (Colice) and Marshall McGee (Ashley); daughter, Megan Hill (Justin); grandchildren Payton Austin, Maison McGee, Brandon Ayala (Kayla), Layth McGee (Skyler), Chloe Ayala, Caydence McGee, Cason Gibson, Braylee Hill, Hayley Gibson, Alyssa Hill, Everly Gibson, Cooper Hill and Madelyn Hill. He is also survived by his brothers, Dennis McGee (Libby) and Larry Lucas (Jeannie); sisters, Patrica Goodwin, Donna Williamson (Eddie), Sherri McAdams Dullingham; as well as several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his granny, Matty Ozell Milholland; father, Herman Ray McGee; mother and stepfather Leah Faye and Willie McAdams; father and mother-in-law Herman and Dorothy Hayley and brother- in- law Steven Hayley.

A Celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Mikes’s absence is immeasurable, just like the love he gave.

Until we meet again.

  1. Our deepest condolences… He was definitely a great and wonderful person. You’re in God’s arms now. God bless your family.

  2. One of the best dads I have ever known. He took me in a his own, spoiled me & just made me feel love & appreciated. There will never be another. Rest in peace “dad”. You deserve it. Thank you for the dinners, camping, tubing, & mostly love. You will be so missed. Breaks my heart I didn’t get to say goodbye. I love you, man!

  3. Serena and I are sooo sincerely sorry for your family’s loss. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
The times we spent with Mike he was always willing to try and lend a hand to whatever was going on. Unfortunately the most recent years he had so many ailments creating hardships but he refused to quit. I watched as his loving wife Karen, his son Marshall McGee and wife Ashley selflessly cared for him day and night as his health deteriorated. With a heavy heart I know he is in a better place with no Parkinson’s, no tubes and no pain. He is free from a wheelchair and a hospital bed. Seeing what my friend did with his mom for his father I know the man Mike McGee was in his earlier years thru seeing the person his son Marshall has become! May you rest peacefully Paw Paw! We WILL see you later! That’s our promise.

    Tre’ & Serena
