July 18, 1973-April 12, 2026
Melissa Ann Gomez, 52, passed away on April 12, 2026, at 11:55 a.m. in Webster, Texas. Born in Houston, Texas, Melissa lived a life full of love, strength, and joy.
Melissa was a truly special person with so much love to give, and she was deeply loved by her family. She was a cherished daughter, sister, little Tita “little auntie,” niece, and friend who brought light and laughter wherever she went. She loved to dance and had a creative spirit, finding joy in painting, drawing, coloring, and putting puzzles together.
She shared a special bond with her father, Ray—her “buddy”—and loved spending time by his side. Whatever her sisters did, Melissa was right there with them, determined to do the same.
Melissa was a proud athlete who won gold and silver medals at the Special Olympics in gymnastics, bowling, track, baseball, and basketball. She was also a world traveler who preferred to ride only brown horses. She loved being outdoors, spending time with her beloved outdoor cat, and she cherished her sister Vanessa’s cats and her teacup Chihuahua, Boobie.
Music and dancing were part of who she was. She loved Elvis Presley and especially enjoyed dancing to Thriller by Michael Jackson.
Melissa was a devoted member of Mary Queen Catholic Church and Special Friends, both of which were meaningful parts of her life and community.
Melissa attended Alvin Community College and Houston Community College, where she earned certificates in Keyboarding, Intro to Microcomputers, Office Filing and Clerical Skills, and Beginning Reading. She was also honored with a “Most Improved Student” award—an achievement that reflected her dedication and determination.
She is survived by her loving parents, Ray and Maria Gomez; her sisters, Bernadette, Audrey, and Vanessa “Twin” Gomez; her nephew, Adan “Bubby” Rivas; her nieces, Olivia Marie Rivas and Isabella Rae Gomez and her aunts, Ester and Sipriana.
A visitation will be held on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546. There will not be a reception, as the family continues to grieve this profound loss.
Melissa will be remembered for her strength, her joyful spirit, and the love she gave so freely. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, please donate to Melissa’s favorite place, Special Friends Inc., P.O. Box 1382, Friendswood, Texas 77549.

I am so sorry for your loss of sweet Melissa. She was full of life in every sense of the word. I still remember at her graduation party dancing it up to the Real MCcoys. She will always be part of my memory and has made me a better person for having her in my life. May her memory be a blessing as she is always a blessing to us all.
