In Loving Memory

Mary Jean Ware

February 6, 1934 – May 31, 2022

Mary Jean Ware, 88, of Pearland, entered her Heavenly home on May 31, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her 6 children (Marta and husband Jeff, Mark and wife Alta, Paul, Charles and wife Cindy, Roger, Angie and Boyfriend Casey, 11 granddaughters (Tabatha, Shawna, Ashley G., Lauren, Heather, Morgan, Adrienne, Sarah, Amanda, Ashley M. and Samantha), 3 grandsons (Chris, Travis and Taylor), and 6 great grandchildren (Lilly, Naomi, Henry, River, Piper and Walker).

She was born Mary Holmes in Hawkins, Texas on February 6, 1934, to parents Rufus and Minnie Holmes. In her life she took on many rolls. She was the oldest sibling to 7 brothers and sisters. The largest roll she played was as a loving and dedicated wife to Charlie Ware for 42 years, a mother to 6 children, and a provider of love and support to anyone in need.

Mary’s dedication to her family did not stop at home. She maintained full time and part time employment for most of her life, working an overnight paper route throwing 500 plus hand wrapped papers daily, bagging them as she drove, and then prepared for her day job at The City of Houston Water utility Department.

For a brief time, Mary worked as a Pearland Police dispatcher, but because her love for people, a big heart, and a love for Jesus, she was unable to continue that work. According to resources, after her shift she would take her bible and pray with the prisoners.

Mary will be most remembered by her time at Shadycrest Baptist Church working in the nursery. Every Sunday through Thursday she would care for the Mother’s Day out children and the children of regular church service attendants. She had a heart for children, and she was loved by all that knew her.

Mary was a devout Christian and always shared her love for Jesus to all. Mom, Grandma, Sister, or friend, whatever you called Mary, her absence from our lives will be missed, but we know that she is now basking in the presence of the Heavenly Father, and her reward for a life well lived, is hers.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday June 6, 2022 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home 311 N. Friendswood, Drive Friendswood, Texas 77546. With Rev Tyler M. McKinney officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Park East Cemetery located 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster Texas 77598
