Mary Geraldine Hutchins Derouen "Gerry”, 83, of Houston, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 8, 2021, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Gerry was born on August 11, 1937, to Anne Cathryn O'Leary & Ernest LaVergne Hutchins.
Gerry was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, daughter Chere, and brothers Eugene and Ernest Jr.
Gerry is survived by her sister Kathleen Casey, daughter Vicky and son-in-law James, daughter Felicia and son-in-law Charles, son Gerald Jr. and daughter-in-law Shana. Gerry was greatly loved by her grandchildren Mike, Heather, Travis, Kaylee, Adam, Ayanna, Trinity, Jordan, Hannah, James, Emily, and nine great-grandchildren Johnathan, Christian, Christopher, Braydon, Alivia, Clover, Jameson, Mele, and Kai. Many other nieces and nephews also survive her.
Gerry co-owned and operated Industrial and Marine Specialties for 27 years with her husband, son, and grandson. She was an expert at cleaning kitchens and quite a busy body until her last moments. Gerry never met a stranger and always enjoyed chatting about the weather. She enjoyed many weekends at Lake Livingston playing 31 with friends and family, drinking tequila sunrises, and fishing with Jeanette and Kay. After Gerald's passing, Gerry filled her days with family visits, playing solitaire and Rummy with grandchildren & friends, including her dear friend Melba. She shared Gerald's love of animals and truly cherished Little Man, her three-legged cat. Gerry, aka Mom, G-ma, Graham Cracker, Gigi, and Dammit Gerry is smiling down on us as she walks pain-free with Gerald, Chere, and many animals. Please join us in celebrating her life on August 14, 2021.
A memorial service, with a reading of the Rosary, will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Drive., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200, with Deacon Chuck Turner officiating. My thoughts and prayers are with the family this week dealing with such a sad loss. May Aunt Gerry now rest in peace as she journeys on to be with Uncle Gerald and all of her family in heaven. She will now have everylasting peace and no more pain and suffering. She is sadly missed, but know she's now in a better place in heaven.
