July 21, 1936 – September 4, 2024
Lynette (Netts) Underwood Kaufhold, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on September 4, 2024, in Friendswood, Texas.
The only child of Alice Lynn (Harris) and Charles Underwood, she was born in Austin, Texas, on July 21, 1936. She lived in Elgin, Texas until the age of six when she and her parents moved to Houston. Lynette was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond (Ray) Henry Kaufhold and her parents.
Lynette was a 1954 graduate of Houston’s Stephen F. Austin High School where she was a proud member of the Scottish Brigade Drill Team. After graduation, she entered the workforce until she married. On June 1, 1957, she married the love of her life, Ray. They were married for 58 years until he passed away in December 2014.
Lynette and Ray moved their family to Friendswood in 1967. She was involved in the Friendswood community and her children’s schools throughout the years. Lynette was active in various clubs, including the Village Green Garden Club and Frank J. Brown Heritage Museum, and was a founding member of Friendswood Investment Group (FIG). In the late 1980s, Lynette helped Ray start his business, Texas Shapes, and worked with him there for five years. Her hobbies included reading, going to the movies and traveling with her husband and their group of friends.
Lynette leaves behind a legacy of family and friends. Her greatest joy in life was raising her two sons, Kent and Kirk, and being Mimi to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a devoted daughter to her parents and took care of them in their later years.
She is survived by her children, Kent Kaufhold and wife Tammy of Friendswood and Kirk Kaufhold and wife Lynn of Friendswood, her cherished grandchildren, Cameron Kaufhold and wife Whitney of Waco, Kellsey Hibbs and husband Will of Liberty Hill and Kaitlyn Kaufhold of Baltimore; and great-grandchildren Rowan, Madi, Addley, Sutton, Rory and Stella.
A visitation will be held at Friendswood Friends Church, 502 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Friendswood Friends Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Cameron Kaufhold, Will Hibbs, Greg Hoff, Brent Ratcliff, Joe Frantz, Clay Tiller, and Keith Kaufhold.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Friendswood Friends Church or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Lynette was always such a beautiful, classy and kind lady! It is apparent that she was a wonderful mom because her sons grew into very fine men, marrying beautiful ladies themselves. James and I send our condolences and our love and prayers of comfort.
Thank you so much Lisa for your kind words. Love you both!
Lynette and l were both born in 1936 to families that were good friends. We remained friends through raising families plus all the good times and bad. She was my oldest and dearest friend, really like a sister. I will always remember her and the fun times we shared. I loved her dearly. She was blessed with Kent and Kirk plus Tammy and Lynn. All of you took such good care of her.
Rest In Peace my friend.

Lynette and I have been friends for over forty years. She was so special to me and we enjoyed so many adventures together with Ray and Mike. I know Mike and I were blessed to have Lynette and Ray in our lives. I have missed you dear friend and I know you are at peace now.
Love you , Diana
Ms. Lynette was such a sweet lady – I had the pleasure of meeting her at La Casita. She was always so happy-sharing life’s memories and what not to do… meaning I was 15 when I met her and Mr. Ray. She will be missed but not forgotten.
May she rest in peace and til we meet again.
My condolences to the family….
