In Loving Memory

Linda Mae Rivers Greer

June 15, 1941 – September 25, 2021

Linda Greer passed away peacefully Saturday September 25, 2021 after a struggle with pneumonia. Linda was born in Orlando, Florida on June 15,1941 to Thomas Walker Rivers and Christene Cook Rivers, both deceased.

She met her soulmate of 58 years, James Greer at Lamar Tech in Beaumont, Texas where she received an associate degree. After several years as a stay-at-home mom Linda spent 20 years with Pasadena ISD as the receptionist and assistant to the counselors at South Houston High School watching several generations of Pasadena youngsters pass through those doors. She enjoyed the last 14 years of her life with her family and friends, nurturing the local birds, squirrels, and flowers. Linda will be remembered, lovingly, for her selfless love for her family, joyful affection for the nature surrounding her and her infectious sense of humor and endless smiles.

Linda is survived by her husband, James Greer; two sisters, Candy Zunker and Joyce Smith; three children, Leslie Shak, Jennifer Palmer, and Matt Greer; three grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many friends that she has made through the years.

Instead of a service Linda had requested a simple visitation/celebration of life which will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 form 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77511 (281) 992-7200.

Condolences may be sent to the Greer family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

My condolences to the family. As you mourn the loss of a very special mother, may you find strength in all of your wonderful memories together. She will never be far from your heart.

  4. Mrs. Greer was a second mom to me growing up. She put up with more craziness from me and Jenn than the law allows, and always had the patience and good humor to let us be ourselves! She was a stable, loving force in my life during a rather tumultuous time, and always made me feel like a part of the family. I will forever be grateful for Mr. and Mrs. Greer and all their love and kindness!

I met Jennifer when we were both in the 4th grade and that is also when I got to meet Mr. and Mrs Greer, the most healthy and stable married couple I’d ever met. They were an anomaly for someone like myself who had been so deeply impacted by divorce. Going over to Jenn’s house was like going to a mythical place were life felt safe and predictable. For as long as I live, I will be able to see her proud look. See, one year, me, Jenn and Kim had a celebration of some sort and Mrs. Greer, Diane and my Mom were all there. On cue, we asked them to give us their best proud look. I will always remember her that way. Love always, and all ways, Nikki/Logynn

  6. I will always remember Linda's generous and kind heart, elegance and beautiful smile. She and Jim were always so welcoming. I will never forget the joy in watching Jim and Linda's impromptu dancing on the patio of a local restaurant. Such an enduring couple. My hearts break for Jim , Jennifer, Leslie and Matt. Sending all my healing thoughts to Linda's family and friends.
