Kelly Catherine Storey

Kelly Catherine Storey

July 13, 1954-January 23, 2026

Kelly Storey, born on July 13, 1954, and passed away peacefully on January 23, 2026. Preceded in death by her father, James Storey, mother, Lillian Storey and brother, Michael Storey.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Carnes, loving son, Drew Carnes, four treasured grandchildren, and five dear sisters. Kelly also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and kindness.

In 1979, she married Terry Carnes and began her married life in Dallas, where she was employed by a law firm and welcomed the births of her two children. Kelly later moved to Friendswood to be closer to her extended family. There, she became a resident of the community and began a career with a Houston law firm.

After retiring, she purchased ten acres near her brother’s home in Flynn, Texas. There, she began a small roadside business and became affectionately known as the Pie Lady.

Kelly cherished her life in Flynn, where she devoted herself to working on her farm and maintaining her business in her little cabin.

During this time, her daughter and three grandchildren came to live with her. Kelly was able to care for her grandchildren and continue running her business while her daughter attended nursing school.

In 2022, Kelly chose to retire and sold her home and business. She was then able to purchase a home in Friendswood for her daughter and three grandchildren, allowing her to be closer to her sisters once again.

Kelly was diagnosed with cancer in June 2024. She spent the remainder of her life embracing each day and cherishing time with her extended family.

Kelly’s legacy of joy, humor, and creative spirit will live on in the hearts of family and friends who will miss her greatly. Remembered for a vibrant personality, boundless creativity, and always being the first to tell a joke, Kelly brought light and laughter to the lives of those around her. Kelly was a beloved member of the community and cherished by all who knew her.

Kelly’s life will be celebrated on January 30, 2026, at Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, Texas. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon with a reception to follow in the Parish Hall.

Kelly, I will certainly miss your welcoming smile, hearing you laugh, making others laugh and your always kind and thoughtful ways. My favorite memories start in between the Storey and the Hofer’s houses where we all (too many to count) ran and played. Our families played and prayed together at St. Christopher’s Church & School and the fun continued at IWA High School, now 50+ years later, you showed us the way to be strong and fight. You were always hopeful and grateful. With much love and admiration, we release our newest Angel to rest in the loving arms of Jesus. May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace, Amen.

    Mary
