In Loving Memory

Judy Gayle Cowan McPeters

March 29, 1946 – January 14, 2022

Judy Gayle Cowan McPeters, 75, of Friendswood, Texas, passed from this life on January 14, 2022. She was a kind and generous soul who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Judy was born on March 29,1946 in Madison County, Alabama to Roy E. Cowan and Margaret J. Kennedy Cowan.  She was raised in Owens Cross Roads, Alabama, where she grew into a strong and fiercely independent woman who would go on to marry her high school sweetheart, forge a long career with the U.S. Postal service, and grow her own family in Friendswood, Texas. When she retired, she was able to focus more attention on hobbies and interests, not the least of which was showering her affection and love on the ever-growing colony of stray cats she tended to.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents and husband Wannie T. McPeters, who passed on October 6, 2019, after 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters, Karan Wilkins and husband Jay, and Christine Auten and husband Andrew; granddaughter Lisa Wilkins; brother Roy Cowan, Jr and wife Pam; sisters, Diane Tabb and husband Bob, and Kathy Morlock and husband Ted; brothers-in-law Charley W. McPeters and wife Ava, Jimmy Lee McPeters and wife Sue Lynn, and Garland V. McPeters and wife Renee; numerous cousins and other distant but dear relatives.

Judy is also survived by several very special friends, and innumerable close and casual friends and acquaintances, each very dear and important to her. Judy was quick to make friends, giving freely of her generous spirit to form life-long bonds with people that became like family to her. They will all also greatly feel her loss.

All of these people are joined by the love Judy showed them, and by the love each and every one returned in kind.

A donation will be made to the American Lung Association in Judy's honor by her beloved cousins, The Kennedy Clan.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 11:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.
