In Loving Memory

James Edward Caddell

March 2, 1939 – September 20, 2021

We proudly celebrate and proclaim, Jimmy Caddell is the measure of a successful man. He loved and served His Heavenly Father.  He gained the love of his wife and children, and the respect of his friends and colleagues. He lived well and laughed often, he filled his purpose and accomplished his task. Jimmy leaves the world better than he found it, he looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.

On Monday, September 20, 2021, James “Jimmy" Edward Caddell, of Pearland, Texas, who always loved a great party, joined the ultimate celebration in worship of His Heavenly Father.

Jimmy leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary “Casenia" Caddell of over 60 years. His children; Shanda Dawn Austin (husband Gary Austin), James Edward Caddell II (wife Ann Caddell), Tara Caddell Stringer (husband Danny Stringer) and Kerry Abigail Dampier (husband Bill Dampier).  Grandchildren; Jeremiah Austin (wife Megan Austin), Kaylin Austin, William Gary, Taylor Austin, Kirsten Gary, Jamie Caddell, Noah Caddell, Josiah Caddell, Amelia Dampier, Spencer Stringer, MaryAnsley Stringer, Hope Dampier, JP Stringer and Great-Grandchildren; Atticus Austin, Kirah Caddell, Emmanuel Caddell, and Mary Austin.  A sister; Sharon Tripp Hawkins and a nephew; Joseph “Spike” Miles, and many extended family and friends.

Born on March 2, 1939, Jimmy spent his elementary and high school years, in Washington State and Oregon.  During those years, he grew to love music, and became an accomplished clarinetist, in high school, even starting his own dance band, “The Toppers".. Jimmy also held two Oregon State Titles in Track and Field.  In 1959, after attending college, in the Pacific Northwest, he transitioned to the East Coast to attend the Lewis Hotel Motel Training School.  Upon graduation, Jimmy served as the Assistant Manager of the Hotel George Mason in Alexandria, Virginia from 1959 to 1961, where he met the love of his life, Mary Casenia.

He married Casenia on August 6, 1961. Shortly after their wedding, always a patriot, Jimmy entered the Air Force, serving from 1961 to 1965. During those years he was stationed, in France and California.

Completing his tour of duty, Jimmy and Casenia returned to Alexandria, Virginia to continue their family and settle down.  From 1965 to 1997, they grew from a family of three to a family of six; and Jimmy obtained his real estate license, and had a successful career, in commercial real estate.

In 1997, entering in to the “empty nest" chapter, Jimmy and Casenia teamed up and started working in the Right of Way Industry.  Their projects included working in North Carolina, Maryland, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Connecticut.

In August 2001, Jimmy and Casenia left the Northeast to take on a six-week project in Houston, Texas.  As everything is “bigger" in Texas, a small six-week project resulted in BIG changes.  Jimmy and Casenia moved permanently to Pearland, Texas, they started a successful Right of Way Service Company; and have continued working and serving, in the industry for over twenty years.

As a descendant of the Caddell Sept of the Campbell of Cawdor Clan, Jimmy was always inspired by his Scottish heritage and his Family Motto: “Be ever mindful". As Jimmy navigated life’s journey, he often reminded his Caddell Clan to remember the motto and these other pearls of wisdom:

If it’s painful, make it quick.

Take care of Old Business, New Business will take of itself.

One day you are a peacock, the next day a feather duster

Jimmy accepted Christ as his personal savior in 1975.  He was a man, of faith, and believed in miracles.   He prayed for miracles daily, believing OUR GOD IS A GOD OF MIRACLES. Jimmy shared his testimony often, and if given the opportunity to talk to anyone long enough, he would Praise the Lord, for the Miracles bestowed upon him.

  2. I have worked with Jimmy for many years. He was one of the most caring person that I have ever met. He loved his family and everyone he was around. I will truly miss him. I can remember riding with him on a side by side down the ROW telling me how lucky he has been with a beautiful wife and great family. May god be with him and his family.

Mrs. Caddell, . You have been in our thoughts and prayers throughout and will continue to be in day's to come.
What a legacy Mr. Caddell has left! I loved reading about his life and see what an amazing man he is. We know that he will be sorely missed but that there is much peace and comfort knowing he is with his Lord this very moment. I met him a couple of times when you all visited Virginia and he was always so sweet and kind. Over 60 years married! What an amazing love you two had. Praying those memories will bring much comfort to you.

Shanda, you have told me many wonderful things about your Dad and your love for him was clear. I know your heart is broken and I send all the love I can. Day by day you will have floods of memories come. They may bring tears but they will bring joy as well I promise. Love you.

Family, Knowing there are no true words that can ease this pain you are feeling I can say in truth, the memories and love will be your blanket of comfort. You all are in so many people's prayers and I hope you all feel the love.

Please know you all are in our prayers and we send love from Virginia. God bless you all .

For someone I never met,I may have missed one of the great ones. When Daniel spoke of the many trips and outings the family took everything was so positive.Almost like Father in Law approved of Tara’s choice! And a guy that can let a grandchild actually be inside one of the most impressive sports cars in the world, that’s my kind of guy!Like I say , I never met him,but if I could have we sure could have had fun ignoring Daniel together!😀
