In Loving Memory

Harry Carl Bowman

March 12, 1953 – April 21, 2025

Harry “Carl” Bowman passed peacefully into the arms of his Savior, surrounded by the love of his family and the legacy of a life well lived.

Carl was born in Texas City, Texas and raised in Danbury, Texas, where he dreamed of being a rancher. Though Jesus took him in different directions, he never let go of that Texas grit and heart. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that shaped his discipline and devotion to others.

On June 16, 1973, Carl married the love of his life, Jennifer. Together, they shared 52 years of love, faith, and family. Their marriage was blessed with three children—Joshua, Elizabeth, and Aaron—who carry on his values of hard work, integrity, and deep faith.

Carl spent most of his professional life in the chemical plant industry and eventually founded a software company that also supported the industry. He was an entrepreneur at heart, always striving to build something meaningful—not just for himself, but for others as well.

Carl loved helping people succeed, and he never passed up the opportunity to mentor, encourage, or pray for someone in need. To Carl, success was measured not in dollars or titles, but in relationships and faith. The cornerstones of his life were Jesus, Jennifer, his children and grandchildren, and his family and friends.

He lived out his belief that true success in any part of life—family, work, or community—only comes through Jesus Christ. And today, Carl is no longer imagining what it will be like to meet Jesus—he knows.

Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer Bowman; his children, Joshua Bowman (wife, Crystal), Elizabeth Wondergem (husband, Marc), and Aaron Bowman; and his treasured grandchildren, Ethan Bowman, Seth Bowman, Kaid Wondergem, Devyn Wondergem, Hollyn Wondergem, Griffin DeLuca, and Gemma DeLuca. He is also survived by his siblings, Cecil “Sonny” Bowman, Jr. (wife, Judy), Sherri Bowman, and Mark Bowman.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Willie Lou Bowman.

Carl’s legacy is one of unwavering faith, enduring love, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity, wisdom, and fascination with life. He will be dearly missed and joyfully remembered.

A celebration of Carl’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 29, at 5:00 PM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 North Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, TX 77546. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM. A reception will be held after the service.

A burial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038.

All who knew and loved Carl are welcome to attend and share in honoring his memory.

Gifts of plants and flowers are welcome, or donations can be made to Kingdom Family San Marcos—a cause close to Carl’s heart (www.kingdomfamilysm.com).

As some people journey through life, they leave footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, joy and faith. Even when they’re gone, the trail they’ve left behind continues to inspire us. Carl was such an inspiration to so many. I am so blessed to have known him. Praying God will comfort your family while you celebrate the legacy that live on.

  2. Carl is walking the streets of gold today. It is still hard to believe he is gone. I had a doctors appointment the other day. My first thought after, was that I need to call Carl and then I realized he won’t be at the other end of the phone anymore. He has been a inspiration to me for 64 years since I was in the third grade. He always exhibited Christian characteristics and ethics even before he was saved but after he was saved he made Jesus proud. Carl has been responsible for the salvation of many in his life. He even got this old reprobate saved, after a great struggle I might add. I will miss my great friend very much.

  3. Carl was one of the finest human beings I’ve ever known. He was a man of honor, intelligence, & integrity. He will be greatly missed! I am so sorry for your loss. Your family is in my prayers.

  4. Carl was such a great person and also a great co-worker. I’m so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family 🙏🙏

Dear Jennifer, Josh, Elizabeth, and Aaron ~ even tho decades have passed since our time together, I cannot measure that amount of joy your family brought into my life via Carl’s friendship with Charles. He was a true mentor to that guy! Carl was absolutely brilliant at work too, with his influence reaching beyond his immediate responsibilities. I am so heartbroken for your loss but know Carl was prepared to meet our Savior. With much love, respect, and prayer to all of you and my old buddy Mark and long-ago coworker Sonny 🙏🏻❤️
