In Loving Memory

Gregory Louis Davidson

Gregory Louis Davidson

November 2, 1951 – July 16 2025

Gregory Louis Davidson, 73, of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on July 16, 2025, after many years of health challenges.

Greg was born on November 2, 1951, in Houston, Texas, to RL “Bob” Davidson and Ann Davidson. A master electrician, Greg proudly continued the family business, Davidson Electric, serving his community with dedication and skill, but his truest passion began in high school with street racing—a spark that ignited a lifelong love of stock car racing.

Greg was married to his high school sweetheart, Peggy Pringle Davidson, and together they shared 54 years of unwavering love and commitment. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence, humor, and grit will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving wife Peggy; daughter Heather Davidson Burris and son-in-law Ralph; son Christopher Davidson and daughter-in-law Rhonda; and his beloved grandchildren: Derrick, Haley, Mackenzie, Blake, Kaitlyn, and Tyler. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Goodlett-Cheramie (Roland), brother Mike Zientek (Cheryl); nephews Gerald Reed, Ryan Goodlett, and Brandon Goodlett; niece Katy Krebs; and cousin Robbie Davidson, who was more like a brother, as well as numerous cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, RL “Bob” Davidson and Ann Davidson; his brother-in-law Gary Goodlett; and his niece Karen Doubek.

Known as “The Texas Legend” in racing circles, Greg became a fierce competitor on the Texas racing scene. Racing was more than a hobby for Greg—it was a way of life. Even after becoming an amputee in 2016, he was determined to get back on the track, inspiring many with his perseverance and heart. The racing community wasn’t just part of his story—it became his extended family. He formed countless lifelong friendships at racetracks across the country, and his name remains etched in the memories of those who watched him race or stood beside him in the pits. Greg will be remembered for his unmatched competitive spirit, his relentless drive, and the love and generosity he gave so freely to family, friends, and the racing world. His legacy lives on in every life he touched—and on every track he left his mark.

The family would like to thank Glenda Lopez, Elsa Lopez, Jheybi Lopez & Annette Lopez for being the most amazing caregivers we could have ever wanted and loving him like their own family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 16, 1-4 pm at the Pearl Event Center 951 Tristar Dr., Webster, TX 77598. The venue is unable to receive flower/plant deliveries. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victory Junction Camp: victoryjunction.org/tribute.
