Giuseppe Camera, 83, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on January 28, 1943, in Capri, Italy, Giuseppe carried the traditions, values, and spirit of his homeland throughout his life. In 1975, he immigrated to the United States in pursuit of opportunity and a better future for his family. Through hard work, determination, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved, he built a life that embodied the American dream while never forgetting his Italian roots.
In 1979, Giuseppe and his brother, Frankie, opened Frenchie’s, creating a gathering place where customers were welcomed like family. In 1985, he fulfilled another dream by opening Villa Capri, a restaurant that became known not only for its authentic Italian cuisine but also for the warmth, hospitality, and friendships that flourished within its walls. Giuseppe loved serving his customers and took pride in knowing many of them by name. Over the years, he became much more than a restaurateur—he became a friend, mentor, and cherished member of the community. He was loved by the community and customers alike, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Above all else, Giuseppe was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose greatest joy came from bringing people together. Known for his kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and welcoming nature, he never met a stranger and left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Beyond his work and family, Giuseppe found great joy in music and loved to sing. Whether sharing a favorite Italian song with family and friends or filling a room with his voice, his love of music reflected the warmth and happiness he brought to those around him. His laughter, stories, wisdom, and songs will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincenzo and Raffaela Camera; his beloved son, Francesco Camera; his sisters, Titina Preteroti and Maria Turchi; and his nieces, Gilda Amabile and Pam Mire.
He is survived by his loving wife, Giovanna Camera; his son, Vince Camera; his daughter, Raffi (David) Mason; and his cherished grandson, Sam Abbey.
He is also survived by his brother, Frankie Camera; his sisters, Anna (Mario) Ferraiuolo, Olga (Cliff) Mire, and Pasqualina Camera; and many beloved nieces and nephews, including Sandro Ferraiuolo, Rosario Ferraiuolo, Joseph Mire, Lulu Evans, Maria Mire, Vincent Mire, Mario Nocera, Antonio Nocera, Silvana Ferri, Marinella Pipolo, Vittorio Preteroti, Enzo Preteroti, Lucia Preteroti, and Rosario Preteroti.
Giuseppe’s legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the businesses he built, and the countless lives he touched. He will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his passion for hospitality, his beautiful singing voice, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the joy he brought to others will live on forever.
A wake will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 North Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546. A Mass will be held the following day, Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr, Houston, TX 77058.

Condolences to the Camera family. Giuseppe was a fixture in our Clear Lake community. Many of us from the NASA family frequented Villa Capri because there was not just great food, but there was always the ambience of being in someone’s home! We will miss Guiseppe, may he rest in peace and we thank him for his many years of hospitality to so many of us.
I will always remember his generosity and kindness. He was truly the type of person we should all try to be. God bless you.
Giuseppe was a remarkable individual who gave joy to many. His hospitality at Villa Capri brought great memories for those of us who were fortunate to attend many NASA functions there. Giuseppe always made sure each person got his personal attention and pleanty to eat. We will miss his warmth and hospitality. We are blessed to have known such a warm and kind soul. When you walked in the doors of Frenchy’s Restaurant, Guissepe would not only welcome you with an announcement of your name to the world he made you feel like you were the most important person there. He lived what he believed and he taught the golden meaning of hospitality. I pray that not only his recipes will be handed on but the sincere understanding of ‘presence’ will coninue. Rest in peace!
First met you way way back.. Around 1977-78… (almost 50 years ago) You were making pizza at Francos… Not the main Franco’s restaurant that is on Nasa Rd 1. This was a smaller building located on Telephone road and Belfort. Rosario your niece was a high school kid back then helping you. A bottle of Lowenbrau beer and a medium pizza, my standard fare… . Back then I flew out of Hobby and lived close by that restaurant. I ran into again about a year later. Getting ice cream at the B&R place, next to Frenchies. You saw me and came running out. Proceeded to give me a tour of your new place!…That started a 45+ year history of going to Frenchies.
While you will be missed here on earth, my mom and dad hope you have brought your family recipes to heaven. Many Clearlake locals were there to welcome you to heaven. The table is set and waiting for you to join them.
My history with Giuseppe, Frankie, and entire Camera family started at Franco’s. Giuseppe enjoyed seeing my Hoss cowboy hat and telling me he will never forget my name since it was so similar to his. What a great man, you will be missed

My husband and I met Giuseppe in 1985 after they opened Villa Capri. We became good friends over the years. He was a very lively person with a big heart along with his dear wife Gianna. We loved laughing together while having our favorite Italian dishes at Villa Capri. We will miss him dearly.
Our deepest sympathy goes to his wife Gianna and the whole family.

We first met Giuseppe, Frankie, Anna and Olga at Franco’s on NASA Road 1…many years aga. They all delighted our young children, entertaining them while making great pizza, while my wife and I “stole” some quiet “date” time over a great “pizza and beer”…later they bought Frenchy’s and really greeted the NASA area with some of the best Italian food in Houston. Our granddaughter grew up with their famous Turkey and cheese sandwich on the rare occasion when her father would steal her away for a lunch away from school!! We really grew to cherish not just the food, but the whole family! Rest in Peace Giuseppe! Prayers tor your entire family!

Worked as a NASA contractor very long ago. It was a bleak and miserable experience. One of the only things I miss about working and living in the area was the wonderful food at Frenchie’s and it being close by, even walking distance. Never knew him well but he remembered me at the time. I always appreciated his kindness when I walked in the door. Thank you for being a bright light to this customer from decades ago.
