March 15, 1935 – March 4, 2026
Gerald Robert Still passed away at home in Sugar Land, TX, just before his 91st birthday.
Gerald was born March 15, 1935, in Galveston, TX, to Lawrence and Alma Still. During high school and college, he worked for independent oil man, John W. Mecom, who was a large influence in his life. In 1958, Gerald married Martha Finger while attending Texas A&M University, and with her help, obtained a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1959. In the same year, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army. After completing his military obligation, he began work for the man he loved and respected, John W. Mecom. During his career, Gerald worked for several oil companies at numerous locations in the US and foreign countries. Gerald retired in 1996 as Vice President of Mobil Oil Company’s producing operations in the US.
In retirement, Gerald was supportive and active in Christ Church, Habitat for Humanity, the 12th Man Foundation, the Corp of Cadets, and lead the student run BUILD project. Through their involvement in the Texas A&M President Endowed Scholarship program over the past 25 years, ten students have benefited from Gerald and Martha’s scholarships, both funding four-year scholarships and mentoring.
Some of Garald’s favorite times were traveling with his wife and spending time with their children and grandchildren. He loved playing golf, but fishing was his passion.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Lawrence (Junie) Still, his sister Allena Bunte, and his precious granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Boe. He is survived by his wife Martha, daughter Susan Greer and husband Rick Greer, son Jay Still and wife Jana Jernigan Still, and six grandchildren, Lauren Boe Stanley and husband Brad, Cullen Greer, Clara Still Mediate and husband Rocco, Courtney Greer Green and husband Andrew, Patrick Still and wife Hailey McMurtrey Still, and Hank Still and wife Emily Trowbridge Still.
The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, March 9, 2026, Christ Church, 4201 Texas 6 Frontage Road, College Station, Tx.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christ Church or Habitat for Humanity.

The Stills welcomed the Austin’s to Crystal Beach in 1994,thus forming friendship with the Still Family. A very deep love ,respect and prayers for the Stills. No doubt about his TAMU feelings, but there were times tht a UT Flag flew on their deck on July 4th(until Martha ceased that activity on her birthday). Great memories

In the summer of 1994, Gerald , Martha, and their family became an important of our lives. There were many special times at Crystal Beach sharing meals, spending time on the beach, fishing in the surf, and those special times in the boat fishing and solving world problems . Thanks for sharing your family with us. We think of you often.
I am so sorry for your loss. May God provide you comfort in your sorrow.
He will definitely be missed. Mom and I are praying for all of you and hoping you all are ok.
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your father and it is never easy to say “goodbye” to one’s father as we always want more time. He led a remarkable life and was blessed with his family. May our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ comfort you and your family as you grieve for his loss, but remember not to grieve as those who have no hope. We have the certainty of the resurrection and will one day be reunited with our loved ones. He is now among the Saints in a place were there is no more pain, no more sorrow, but life everlasting. May his memory be eternal.
So sorry for your loss of such a fine outstanding man.
Martha, Please know that we are keeping you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. Gerald will be missed by many friends and family members.

So sorry to hear about the passing of my good friend, classmate and co-worker. We both retired from Mobil Oil Corporation and developed a great friendship. Gerald and Martha were very supportive of our great alma mater, Texas A&M University. They attended my football tailgates often. May his soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Martha, we truly missed Gerald at our Aggie ’58 gatherings after you moved to Sugar Land and know you missed the warm fellowship and worship at Christ Church. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of one of His saints.” (Ps. 116:15). We will visit together again in due time.
