In Loving Memory

Genevieve “Ginny” Maloney Anderson

March 5, 1930 – September 12, 2025

Genevieve “Ginny” Anderson, 95, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 12, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on March 5, 1930, in Bay Bulls, Newfoundland, as one of ten children.  Her father provided for the family by fishing in the summer and hunting seals in the winter, while her mother managed the household.  Life was rewarding but challenging during those early years.

Ginny’s older sister Eileen, supported her through Catholic Nursing School in Canada, paving the way for her future.  Another blessing was meeting Charles “Chuck” Anderson, a naval flight officer on a blind double date. Their marriage led to an exciting chapter in Rota, Spain, where they worked, traveled, and began to grow their family with Mark and Jeanette being born there.  The family then transferred to Corpus Christi, where Bill and Scott came along and finally, they settled in Pearland, Texas, which was her home for over sixty years.

After moving to Texas, Ginny passed her nursing boards in Austin and became an oncology nurse.  She dedicated 35 years to working night shifts at Clear Lake Regional Hospital, winning Nurse of the Year in 2001.   Ginny’s home was lively, and chaotic. Whether cooking up critters brought home from ‘the ditch’ or retrieving laundry tangled in a dirt bike tire, her patience and love as a mother was unwavering.

Ginny was blessed with five grandchildren whom she cherished deeply, while catering to each of their needs as individuals.  Her warmth extended beyond her family, touching friends and everyone who knew her.  Ginny was genuinely concerned for others and always asked after their well-being.

When life grew difficult, Ginny relied on her mantra: “Take things one day at a time, with love in your heart.”  Or, ‘Just keep pushing”.

Ginny is survived by her children: Mark (with Beth), Jeanette, Bill (with Rachel), and Scott (with Pam), as well as her beloved grandchildren: Mark Jr., Ashley, Sophie (with Graham), Dalton (with Cate), and Ethan Anderson.

A visitation will be held at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas, on Friday, September 19, 2025 at 12:30 PM followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. The graveside service will follow at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway.

  1. Rachel Anderson (Daughter In Law)

She was so much fun to be around and knew just what you needed to hear. I loved that we could talk about the joy of knowing God and Jesus in the quiet times together, and that felt very special to me. I also think her name reflected the cool lady she was; she loved pastel colors, sunglasses AND tiaras. Missing her will be the burden of many, including myself, very much. She was our princess.

Oh sweet Miss Ginny, Feisty and Fierce at maybe 90 lbs. soaking wet! Mark and I have so many fond memories of her and Andy. She would always say to me, “Child, let me tell you something…” and she would always end our conversations with, “Well, God bless you child.”
I so loved her feisty spirit, kind demeanor and positive attitude. She was a stoic woman to say the least. I will always remember her laughter and her shaky, Katherine Hepburn voice. Every chance we had, Pam and I would sneak photos of Miss Ginny because she did not like her picture taken! We have some great memories. Mark and Miss Ginny equally adored each other and she will be in our hearts forevermore, until we meet again. Rest now Miss Ginny. We love you.

  3. I have fond memories working with Ginny in the eighties at Clear Lake. She took me under her wing and taught this new nurse things you don’t learn in a text book. My sympathy to her family.
