January 6, 1944-December 6, 2025

Florencio Bernardo III, 81, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on December 6, 2025.

Pol, as he was affectionately known, was born on January 6, 1944, in Cabanatuan City in the Philippines to the late Florencio Jr. and Maria Bernardo.  He graduated from Far Eastern University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.  On September 6,1970, he married his childhood sweetheart.  Together, they moved to Chicago, Illinois in February 1971 and had 3 daughters.  Eventually, they  settled in Texas in 1981.

Pol had a successful career as an aerospace engineer for over 35 years and also earned a Quest for Excellence Award.  He worked in flight crew equipment and he even got to taste test some of the food for the astronauts to eat in space. 

Those who knew Pol will remember him for his infectious smile and overwhelming laughter, his deep devotion to Sto. Nino and his unwavering kindness to everyone he encountered.  He had a special gift for making others smile and laugh, leaving a lasting impact on all who crossed his path.

Pol is survived by his loving wife, Virginia of 55 years; and his daughters Gigi Rowbottom(Allen), Mae Belvis(Denish) and Anne Bernardo.  Forever cherished by his grandchildren Allie Kennard(Chris), Joseph Belvis and Victoria Rowbottom and his great grandchild Brooklyn Kennard.

He is also survived by his 8 siblings and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Pol is preceded in death by his parents Florencio Jr. and Maria Bernardo; and his grandchild Alex Bernardo.

A memorial service will take place from 5-8pm and rosary at 6pm on Thursday, December 11, 2025 at Jeter Funeral Home.  Celebration of life will take place at 10am on Friday, December 12, 2025 at Mary Queen Catholic Church.
