March 4, 1931 – January 27, 2023

Ernest H. Trevino, age 91, passed away peacefully on Friday January 27, 2023, in his home; surrounded by his loving family. Ernest, known affectionately by friends and family as “Ernie”, was born on March 4, 1931, in Laredo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

Ernie married his high school sweetheart Rose Ramirez in 1955 and served his country in the National Guard as a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic and Tank Commander. Shortly after, he accepted a foreign assignment with General Electric and was stationed in Turkey. This opportunity allowed him to travel the world, something he enjoyed immensely. When he returned to the United States, he relocated his wife and five children to New York and in 1968 took up permanent residence in Friendswood Texas.

While working for General Electric he assisted Nasa with the Apollo Launch Program and was later employed by Rockwell International.

Ernie, a firm believer in giving back to his community served as a reserve officer in the Friendswood Police Department for eleven years.

As a lifelong student, Ernie devoted his time to several hobbies such as hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had a deep understanding of the give and take of nature along with a gentle nurturing spirit. This allowed him to be a venerable mentor to all.

As much as he enjoyed his many hobbies, his true treasures were his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren. They brought him an abundance of joy and healing in his latter years. We will all cherish the memories made with Dad, our forever hero, with his playful nature, infectious belly laughs and mischievous smile.

Ernie is survived by Rose, his loving wife of 67 years, son Ernest Jr, daughters Shelly Bounds (Matt Sterling), Rose Ann Kirkendall, Sandra Trevino (Steve Starkey), Diane Mink (David deceased), 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in- law, other relatives, and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200 with Rev. Howard Huhn officiating.
