May 7, 1951 – October 2, 2025
Elizabeth Rose Fleming McGill, 74, of El Lago, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, in the presence of her loving family and her Savior.
She was born on May 7, 1951 in Hollis, New York to William and Honorah Fleming. Raised with strong values of dedication to family, and a generous spirit, she carried those qualities throughout her life. She attended Harriman College and went on to become a supportive and caring homemaker and mother, working many other jobs as necessary to support her home. Anywhere she went, she made a lasting impression by her dedication and care for others.
In 1973, she married James McGill, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and faith. She was a devoted mother of two, a beloved grandmother of seven, and an enthusiastic great-grandmother of one. Her family was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart and life into nurturing and guiding them.
Beth was known for her laugh, her hugs, her love for all babies everywhere, the color purple, and her self-sacrificial way of living. She was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she lived it out with grace and humility in service to all around her.
Beth was preceded in death by her parents William and Honorah Fleming, brothers Stephen and Joseph Fleming, sisters-in-law Susie Fleming, Vivian McGill, Pat McGill, and Nancy McGill, and brothers-in-law Charlie Hinkle and John McGill.
She is survived by her husband James McGill; her son Brian McGill and his wife Adrienne; her daughter Erin Russell and her husband Terry; her grandchildren Margarette McGill, John McGill, Ellen Kelly and her husband Joshua, Benjamin McGill, William Russell, James Russell, and Gwyneth Dolen; her great-granddaughter Honorah Kelly; her siblings Honorah Hinkle, Bill Fleming and his wife Lynn, Marie Tattersall and her husband Chuck, Trudy Fleming, and Xav Fleming; her in-laws Bob McGill, Betsy Stephenson and her husband John, Steve McGill and his wife Kathy; and by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, and dear, dear friends…
…to Beth, “family” was not limited to ties of blood or marriage, and she will be remembered for the way she welcomed everyone in, making them feel seen and loved. Her presence was a gift, and her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her.
A service in celebration of her life and legacy will be held on Friday, October 10th, 2025, at 2:00 in the afternoon at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Nassau Bay, Texas. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 9th between 6:00pm and 8:00pm at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood, Texas. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend. Beth was known for wearing celebration colors at funerals to remind us all that there is joy in these moments. We encourage all to wear purple in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Thomas the Apostle, in honor of her welcoming, generous, and compassionate heart.

Beth was a blessing to our congregation at Christ Church Cathedral. Her faith and joyful witness was a reminder of Christ’s love. When I had my second child, she brought me chicken soup in a glass refillable container. To this day, that container sits on my counter with flour in it. I am certain that I am not the only one who was blessed with her kindness and friendship. May peace surround her family and friends as they grieve her loss.
The Fleming’s and the Zimmermann’s go waaay back. We often considered each other as ‘alternate’ siblings rather than cousins. One of my fondest memories of Beth was when we came down for their 50th anniversary. The place was an absolute ZOO! But it was the HAPPIEST ZOO I have ever seen! Beth was hobbling around (bad knee) with the biggest smile you could imagine. She wanted to be sure that everyone had something to eat and/or drink. She was just soooo happy and thrilled to see everyone. That SMILE will be sorely missed. Go in Peace.
We have honored to know Beth at Christ Church Cathedral in Houston.
We always remember her humility and joy.
With her husband James , they made a great team.
By the way, James McGill is a very unique person and a very very unique priest.
In my opinion , One of the best priest ever .
Love,
From Jim’s ordination to the priesthood to Retired Clergy conference at Camp Allen, I have known The Rev Jim McGill.
I knew he had to have a good woman at his side. Bless you Beth. May you Rest In Peace and rise in glory.
Jim, take heart and be consoled my friend.
Best wishes,
