In Loving Memory

Dorothy Todd Campbell

Dorothy Todd Campbell

March 21, 1926 – January 10, 2026

After a long and beautiful life Dorothy Campbell passed away on the morning of January 10th with her son and daughter-in-law at her side.

Dorothy was born to Charles Todd and Leora Carlton Todd on March 21st, 1926, in San Angelo, Texas.  As a child she lived on a small farm near Maverick, Texas, often spending summers hoeing and picking cotton to help the family survive during the Great Depression.  When she was a teenager, her family moved to McCaskill, Arkansas as her father looked for work during those difficult times.  After graduating from Blevins, Arkansas High School in 1944 she moved with the family back to San Angelo.  While working in San Angelo, Dorothy met her future husband, First Lieutenant Charles Campbell USAAF, from Iowa City, Iowa shortly after the end of World War II.  Charles and Dorothy were married at her parent’s home in Mount Pleasant, Texas on June 1, 1948.  Over the years they lived in Arizona, Florida, West Virginia and Texas while raising their family.  Dorothy had lived in Friendswood since 1973.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, knitting, sewing, gardening, traveling and, most of all, being with friends.  She loved to volunteer at her church, Grace Episcopal in Alvin, and at MD Anderson Cancer Center where she was a patient advocate for over 30 years.  Dorothy was also a fantastic grandmother to her three grandsons and provided much appreciated help to her daughter-in-law each time a new grandbaby arrived.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years Charles Nelson Campbell of Friendswood in 1995, daughter Sherry Campbell of Friendswood in 2025, brother Ralph Todd of Blytheville, Arkansas in 2020 and brother Charles Todd of Amarillo, Texas in 2010.

She is survived by her son Charles Campbell, daughter-in-law Marianeta Replentes Campbell and grandsons Charles, Matthew and Vincent, all of Friendswood.

We extend our gratitude to The Cottages of Clear Lake dementia care center and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care and support during her last few months of life.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Thursday, January 22nd from 5-7 pm at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas.  A funeral service with Holy Eucharist will be held at 10 am on Friday, January 23rd at Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, The Reverend Suzanne Smith officiating.  Burial will be immediately after at Confederate Cemetery in Alvin.  A reception will be held at the church after the burial.

Pallbearers: Charles N. Campbell, Charles M. Campbell, Matthew Campbell, Vincent Campbell.  Honorary pallbearers Tommy Peebles and Rob Crenshaw.

Readers: Nan Doerr, Charles M. Campbell, Charles N. Campbell
