In Loving Memory

Don "Buddy" Bucsanyi

July 25, 1940 – February 22, 2022

Don "Buddy" Lee Bucsanyi passed away peacefully on the morning of February 22, 2022 after a very hard fight against a multitude of health issues at UTMB Webster. Buddy was born on July 25, 1940 in Houston, Texas.  His parents were Charlie Joe and Willie Mae Bucsanyi.

He spent his childhood years in various activities, he was an extrovert and actually was on the football cheerleading team! Buddy was a catcher on his baseball team as well. He was also an avid duck hunter and would join his father and younger brother Gene later on hunts together. He also enjoyed saltwater fishing. His most favorite passion was waterfowl hunting, and he could not get enough of it! Even taking up decoy carving (which didn't go so well) and painting his decoys and upgrading his gear in anticipation of the next season!

Buddy met his wife, Margaret when he was 15 and she was 13 in their neighborhood at Garden Villas in Houston, Texas. They were sweethearts from such a tender age, but it was apparent they were smitten with each other.

Buddy and Margaret were wed at Garden Villas Methodist Church in Houston, Texas on August 5, 1961.  It just happened to be a day after Margaret's birthday, so she would be 19 and her father would be more accepting of the union.

Buddy and his wife Margaret are members of Friendswood United Methodist church, where he served faithfully as an usher. His smiling face and charming personality made him a shoe in for the position.

Buddy was not particularly interested in college, but he was bright and driven to succeed, confident and very charming.

This led him to Eastern Airlines for a time, but he finally landed at Avis where he was a district manager for several years. When his supervisor announced that he would be transferred to Tulsa, Oklahoma that was it for him.

Buddy was offered a manager position at Texas Yamaha, Inc. in Pasadena, Texas in Christmas of 1974 and accepted the position. He was able to buy into the company and eventually was CEO and owner of not only that dealership, but 3 others with his wife and children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Joe and Willie Mae Bucsanyi and brother Karl Bucsanyi.

He is survived by his wife Margaret of over 60 years! His Children, son Scott and daughters Wendy and husband Craig Buchman and daughter Angel Bucsanyi. He is also survived by his brother Gene Bucsanyi. Buddy is also survived by 2 grandchildren Sarah Bucsanyi and AJ Buchman. His nieces Lisa Thompson, Krista Terry and her husband Tim Terry and many other nieces, nephews and in-laws.

He never had too many close friends his age, but was like a father and friend to Scott's great friends Bill McCann, Mark McCann, Phil Runge, David Dorris and David Haines who also loved to hunt and fish with Buddy.

A visitation will be held on February 25, 2022 from 2:00 P.M.-3:00 P.M. at Friendswood United Methodist Church, 110 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 followed by the funeral service at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Howard Huhn officiating.  There will be no formal gravesite gathering.

The family would prefer in lieu of flowers that donations be gifted to the Friendswood United Methodist Church Children's Fund.

Condolences may be sent to the family in care of Jeter Memorial Funeral Home at www.jeterfuneralhome.com.

  1. So sad to hear of Buddy's passing. It was an awesome experience and blessing working with the Bucsanyi family right out of high school for 20 years, so it felt like they helped raise me along with his own kids. He will be dearly missed but he is now Home!

  2. Sammy & Pam Kalil

Buddy was my husband Sam's cousin through Margaret Ann. I loved Buddy from the first moment I met him. He was always smiling , funny and a great husband and Dad. I always enjoyed seeing his new latest motorcycle and then collection of sports cars. Buddy and Margaret's daughter Wendy was our Precious Flower girl , when we married June 17, 1972. Buddy will be missed so much. It is on my heart that he died on the 4 yr anniversary of our son Sammy's passing . Feb 22! !!! If its possible they are riding in the wind on a motorcycle or one fast corvette.
Our Love and Prayers for Margaret Ann, Scott, Wendy and Angel and all the rest of their family
Gods Blessings, Sammy and Pam Kalil .

  3. I am so sorry to learn of Buddy’s passing, and of his health issues he had when he passed. I offer my heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Bucsanyi, Scott, Wendy, and Angel, and to all of his friends, and loved ones. Buddy was the type of man this is going to be thought of and missed greatly.

I remember going to Texas Yamaha when I was younger (ok, much younger, haha) and the two people that I always sought out to say “Hi” to, or to talk to for a few minutes were Clint and Buddy.
Although just a teenager, Buddy was always so kind and treated me with respect that I have never forgotten to this day. I remember like it was a week ago, being in his office with a friend and listening to him tell us about the ‘82 YZ250 that was getting ready to be released. He loved talking about it and I loved hearing about it! I always enjoyed the times when I would go to Texas Yamaha and Buddy made it even more so for me. Decades later, I still think of those times fondly. Thank you so very much, Buddy. God bless you.
    Sincerely
    James Rudisell
