Craig L. Freeland died on December 8, 2025 at DeBakey Hospital due to an illness. He is survived by his wife Lauryn Freeland and son Matt Freeland. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two stepchildren.
Craig Freeland was born in Battle Creek Michigan and raised in Colon Michigan. He entered the Air Force and served from 1960-1964. He then attended Michigan State and married Linda. They were blessed by the birth of Matt. He rejoined the Air Force in 1967 and served in Vietnam. He was a crew chief on F100, then was a crew chief for the SR 71 until 1970.
He sold insurance after Vietnam and eventually married Lana. They raised Shannon together until Lana sadly died from cancer. After retirement from his insurance career, Craig volunteered with the Gulf Coast Wing of CAF and worked on Texas Raiders. He volunteered with Wings over Houston for 25 years. He also was apart of and volunteered with the VFW Post 880.
A memorial service will be held on January 10, 2026, at 2:00p.m. at the VFW Post 880 in Galveston.
