Carol Ann Smith Van Dyke

February 19, 1943 – August 12, 2022

Carol Ann Smith Van Dyke, 79, was born February 19, 1943, to James Hardy Smith and Winnie Meaux Smith of La Porte, Texas.  Carol passed away on Friday, August 12, 2022.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, a niece, Shawn Renae Smith, and her brother-in-law, Steven Van Dyke.  She is survived by her husband, Charles William Van Dyke, of Friendswood, Texas;  a daughter, Laura Watson, and her husband, James, of Katy, Texas.; a son, Charles William Van Dyke II, and his wife, Andrea, of Friendswood, Texas; a brother, James Hardy Smith, and his wife, Shirley, of Kerrville, Texas; a sister, Joan Smith Glover, of Crosby, Texas; three grandchildren, Taylor and Jessica Watson, and Ava Van Dyke; two nieces, Jenny Rebecca Smith of San Antonio, Texas;  Heather Michelle Hodges, and husband, Matt, of Covington, Louisiana; an aunt, Helen Scott of Baytown, Texas; numerous cousins, and her dog, Sasha.

Carol graduated from La Porte High School in 1961. On December 21, 1963, she married Charles, and they raised their two children in Friendswood, Texas.  She was an avid Bridge player who loved playing (and winning) at many bridge competitions.  She also loved to read, play cards, travel, and love on her dogs.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org in Carol’s name.
