November 16, 1930-September 20, 2026
Carl Raymond Hill, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, was born on November 16, 1930, in Decatur, Illinois, to Raymond Hill and Rena McNeer. He was raised and educated in Tuscola, Illinois, where he distinguished himself both academically and athletically. Carl played quarterback on his high school football team and, upon graduation, held the remarkable distinction of being the only student in Illinois to complete 12 years of school with a perfect attendance record.
In 1951, Carl proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following Basic Training in San Antonio, Texas, he was assigned to Arizona State University for further training. Although he was initially scheduled for service in Korea, his orders were changed, and he was sent to Germany instead. He was stationed at Camp Lindsey Air Force Base in Wiesbaden, Germany, where he served for three years with the Headquarters Statistical Services Division. He was honorably discharged in 1954 and returned to Tuscola.
It was during his time in Wiesbaden that Carl met the love of his life. In 1953, he was introduced to Connie, a Wiesbaden resident, on a blind date. Their meeting began a lifelong partnership filled with love, family, adventure, and cherished memories. Carl and Connie were married on February 19, 1955, in a Catholic chapel. In May of that year, Connie moved to Illinois to begin their life together.
Carl began his civilian career as a Process Supervisor with U.S. Industrial Chemical Company. In 1970, he was transferred to the company’s LaPorte plant, where he continued working until his retirement in 1982.
Prior to his transfer, Carl attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois.
Also in 1970, Carl and Connie purchased a home on Clear Creek in Friendswood, Texas. The home became a special place where they built many wonderful memories together and welcomed family and friends.
They remained there until their home was flooded by Hurricane Harvey.
Following his retirement from the chemical industry, Carl began a second career as a Realtor. He also drove a special education bus for Friendswood ISD, work that allowed him to remain active in his community. He continued both endeavors until his full retirement in 1994.
Carl had a lifelong love of pool, beginning when he was just 15 years old. He remained an avid pool player throughout his life and also enjoyed playing golf. He and Connie shared a love of travel and adventure, making numerous trips to Germany to visit Connie’s sisters and traveling throughout Central Europe, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Together, they also traveled to 48 of the 50 United States.
Above all, Carl treasured his family and the life he and Connie built together over more than seven decades. Their 71 years of marriage were filled with love, devotion, shared experiences, and countless memories.
Carl is survived by his devoted wife, Connie; his son, Mark, and wife Anh; daughters Karen Perkins and Erica Hill; grandchildren Danielle Holsomback and her
husband Clint, Kyle Perkins, and Kylee Hill; great-grandchildren Case, Curt, and Cora Holsomback, and Kian, Liam, and Luke Perkins; sisters-in-law Rita Krieger and Brigitte Reil; and two nieces and a nephew in Wiesbaden, Germany.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Lowell Hill.
Carl will be laid to rest at Houston National Cemetery.
His family will remember Carl for his steadfast devotion to Connie, his love for his children and grandchildren, his service to his country, his strong work ethic, his sense of adventure, and the many lives he touched throughout his long and meaningful life. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love he gave and the memories he created will remain with his family and friends for generations to come.
Friends and Family are cordially invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at 11:00 AM, at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 North Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546.
