  1. I have lovely memories of Betty from when I was small. I vividly remember arguing with her whether the charm on her necklace was a "Boot" or a "Shoe". I don't remember what the charm actually was, but I'm sure she was right. She was lovely and sweet to me, and always let me stay in her "pink room" when we'd visit. The room had pink wallpaper, frilly bedding, beautifully dressed dolls, and a little vanity table that sitting at made me feel so grown up. She knew I LOVED that room and always had it set up specially for me. I'll cherish those memories forever.

Grandma Betty’s love, strength, and sweet cookies will live on in our hearts forever.

Betty married my father, Dick Balogh, when I was a young married woman starting a family of my own. Though I never lived with her or grew up around her, the time I spent with her was precious to me. She was always sweet and kind to me and my husband and children. I thought of her as a dear friend and my father’s sweetheart, and my children thought of her as their grandmother. She loved and doted on them, showed a sincere interest in their lives and fostered wonderful relationships with them. I will always be grateful for the love and influence she had on each of us, individually and as a family.
One of my favorite memories I have of her is when she took me aside during one of our family visits to her and Dick’s Friendswood home and lovingly scolded me for picking on one of my daughters. At first I was taken aback because I thought I was being a good mother by pointing out things she was doing wrong, but Betty cared enough about the both of us to kindly speak up and show me a better way of talking to her in love. I will always love her for her example to me.
Another thing I loved about her is her good cooking. My father teased her about being best at making reservations over cooking, but he was a stinker to say that! Every meal I had at her home and every treat and baked good she ever made was delicious! I especially loved her hamburger soup recipe that I have a copy of in her own handwriting! If you want a copy, just let me know. She also made some great Southern cornbread!
I will miss Betty deeply. So will my husband and children. She is one of God’s choicest daughters and beloved by all who were blessed to be in her circle of influence.

I have fond memories I will cherish of aunt Betty and my uncle Dick. We all looked forward to the annual Balogh White Elephant Christmas. Lots of laughter and fun by all. Aunt Betty was always dressed to the 9’s and made sure to check on everyone and get filled in on all our children’s lives. Aunt Betty will be deeply missed. My sincere condolences to Robbie, Kim and family.
