Bernice Evelyn Schovajsa Koenig, 91, of Alvin, TX passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. She was born May 29, 1930 to Frank W. Schovajsa and Vlasta Maresh Schovajsa in Bleiblerville, TX. At the age of 4 months, the family moved to Iowa Colony, TX. She graduated from Alvin High School.
Bernice married the love of her life Wilburn Koenig on July 30, 1950. She loved to travel and play games. She was very active in her church. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The Lord and family were very important to her. She will be missed by us all and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn Koenig; son, Dennis Koenig; sisters, Elsie Luksa and Gladys Sutherland; and brother Erwin Schovajsa.
Bernice is survived by her daughters, Donna Hopson and husband Richard and Carol Koenig; grandsons, Bryn Hopson and wife Christina, Kevin Hopson and wife Heather and Jonathan Koenig; great grandchildren, Joshua, Bryanna, Aiden and Ethen and 8 step great grandchildren; brother, Dan Schovajsa and wife Ruth; sisters, Ruth Hanzelka and Ruby Hanzelka; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. at South Park Baptist Church, 1718 S. Johnson St., Alvin, TX 77511. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery in Pearland, TX.
