March 13, 1984 – January 19, 2026
On January 19, 2026, Alan Michael Massie ran into Heaven, finally free from the pain of his earthly body. We know without a doubt that God heard him coming and welcomed him with open arms. Alan is now at peace, surrounded by all of his loved ones who went before him.
Alan was born on March 13, 1984, in Clear Lake, Texas, to Anna Maria Massie. From an early age, he developed a love for football, spending countless Saturdays cheering on his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. College football was more than a pastime for Alan—it was tradition, passion, and joy.
Alan was an amateur chef at heart and found happiness in the kitchen, often experimenting with new recipes and cooking in large quantities so everyone around him could be fed. Sharing meals was one of the many ways he showed love. He also enjoyed spending time at the gym, reading, gaming, and staying connected with those closest to him.
In 2002, Alan answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, and took immense pride in his service. During his time in the Marines, Alan was awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and the Purple Heart—honors that reflected his bravery, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment.
After his military service, Alan found what he considered his greatest accomplishment in life: fatherhood. He cherished his children, Marlee and Barrett, with his entire heart. They were the loves of his life, his purpose, and his greatest joy.
Alan’s calling was helping fellow veterans who, like him, struggled with PTSD. He devoted his life to fighting the unseen wounds of war, offering understanding, compassion, and hope to those who needed it most. His involvement with Camp Hope and his dedication to veteran support left a lasting impact on many lives.
Alan is survived by his children: Marlee and Barrett Massie, his siblings: Anita Schroeder (Marty), Jody Chavez (Randy), Debbie Urdiales, Greg Massie and Bobby Cross. Along with his nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. All of whom he cherished.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Josephine Massie, his brother Billy Massie, his brother-in-law Michael Urdiales and his mother who brought him into the world, Anna Hartgrave.
Alan will be remembered for his strength, his heart for others, his love of family, and his unwavering dedication to those who served alongside him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the love he gave so freely.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alan’s honor to the PTSD Foundation of America–Camp Hope supporting the mission that meant so much to him.

Alan, your going home was of no surprise to our Lord Jesus. He was waiting with His open arms to say Well done My good and faithful servant. We love you and we know we will see you again and celebrate together. I hope you tell all of “my guys” that I miss them and think of them every day. Now you have joined them. I won’t forget you either. Nurse Sherri
Sherri, our family is comforted as your words remind me that Alan is in a better place. God Bless you.
RIP Brother. I first met Alan at Camp Hope in 2017 during a very rough time in my life and this man was my Mentor in Bravo Bay. He is the true definition of an American Hero and will be remembered forever for the lives he has changed. If any of his daughters ever need anything in life hit me or any of Alan’s Marine brothers up , I remember seeing the love y’all had for your dad at camp hope when y’all were little. That’s the worst part about all this. Semper Fi brother , we got the watch now !!!!
Chase, our family appreciates you acknowledging the impact Alan had on the lives around him. He loved his brothers, remembering Alan with your kind words brings our family comfort. God Bless you.
