March 22, 1962 – January 16, 2024
Timothy Dominic Murphy (61) of Friendswood, Texas, died on January 16, 2024 from complications from a prolonged illness.
Timothy was born in California on March 22, 1962 to William James Murphy and Patricia Anne McAllister. He was the youngest of the family. Early in life they moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico where he grew up with his other 2 siblings. He had many friends and adventures growing up. He attended and graduated from Mayfield High School.
He learned early on how to be self-sufficient and had several jobs including lawn mowing, newspaper delivery and working at the Hardware store. He bought his first truck in High School. From then on, he had a love of cars and learned how to make them go.
Early adulthood found him in the Houston, Texas area employed at NASA's Base Operations Support Systems, where he worked for many years. He loved this job and learned from the best. In his spare time, he enjoyed cars, motorcycles and repaired and rode many throughout the years.
His career was shortened by an unexpected accident which left him unable to work. However, his drive and fight was so strong, that he spent a good deal of time figuring out and creating methods to assist him in doing the things he loved to do. Anyone who knew Tim, knew that he had a strong spirit, and a deep desire to do things just as he had before…only with a new spin on it. When asked how to succeed, his answer was an emphatic, "keep moving forward!" When life knocks you down – Get up and move forward. When you have a setback – reset yourself and move forward. When things don't work out – start again and move forward. He had many opportunities to practice every one of these scenarios, as life hit hard at times, but true to his word, he always kept moving forward.
Timothy was preceded in death by his father, William James Murphy; his mother, Patricia Anne McAllister; and his sister, Anne Elizabeth Murphy. He is survived by his brother, Patrick John Murphy.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Hughes home in League City on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 3:00 pm.
His wishes were to be buried in New Mexico with his family.

It was quite a ride Tim, with incredible adventures. May you finally have Peace ✌️
God bless you brother!
Tim was my first best friend when my family relocated to Las Cruces in 1971. We would ride our bicycles on the dirt motorcycle trails in the desert before the term "mountain biking " existed. We saw the movie On Any Sunday at the Rio Grande theater when kids could get in with a milk carton. He bought my Opal Manta for $100 after I totalled it. He took it apart and put it back together. Super talented mechanical mind. Rest In Peace my friend.
I’m so sorry to hear this! My deepest condolences!

One of the kindest and most optimistic people I’ve ever known. He brought so much joy to me and my family every Christmas when we were in Las Cruces visiting. Truly one of a kind! Rest in peace my friend!
Rest in peace Tim. Such an upstanding man. God bless.
I met Tim and Anne years back while my husband and I lived next door to them. Tim was an exceptionally kind soul but fierce in his quest to stay moving forward in life. We stayed in touch often as Tim was frequently ant our home and worked on cars with my husband Cliff. His passion for all things moving fast was what brought Tim and my husband together as friends. He was called home to be with Mom after the passing of Anne and we kept in touch by text and phone often. I’m not sure why I am just now seeing this and offering thoughts. We miss Tim, Anne and the friendship with the family. Tim was a blessing and a one of a kind spirit that we will forecer remember. Our family is grateful we were placed in his life and deeply saddened he is not here with us. I can think of nothing more glorious than Tim in heaven tinkering with hot rods and riding into the clouds with the freedom to do so! RIP brother , we love you!
