Thomas Patrick (Pat) Mayberry

August 23, 1959-November 24, 2023

Thomas Patrick (Pat) Mayberry, 64 passed away on November 24, 2023, in Friendswood, Texas.  He was born on August 23, 1959, to Edward Jackson and Evelyn Marie (Leonard) Mayberry in Fort Worth, Texas.  He married Denise Draper on October 3, 1998. 

Pat is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Len Coursey.  He is survived by his wife Denise and stepdaughters, Kasey Davis and husband Justin, Stacie Wallis and husband Heath, his stepson, Scott Olsen. 

He graduated from O.D. Wyatt High School in 1977 and attended U.T. Arlington and Alvin Community College.  Pat worked for Dale Carnegie and was a member of Toastmasters.  He worked with his brother, Len and nephew, James Coursey driving dirt tracks and later doing the ROMCO series where James drove on asphalt tracks at different tracks around Texas. He was also the Sportswriter for the ROMCO series interviewing various drivers.  While attending Alvin Community College he opened the breakfast venture at Joe’s Banquet Center for the Saladino family.  Later he did a podcast called “Pots, Pans, and Pat” while honing his skills as a chef. Before pursuing his dream to become a chef, he worked as a Regional Sales Manager for a Petroleum Company.  Chef Pat owned Southern Elegance Catering along with his wife Denise. 

Pat loved playing basketball in high school, Country Western dancing, Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Astros, entertaining, hosting his famous Christmas parties, Snoopy, traveling, watching NASCAR, hockey, and college football.

Pat was a member of Alvin Methodist Church. He was also an old hippie who used to grow his hair out periodically.  He loved to write poems.  He was proud of the fact that his Norwegian grandmother, Anna Oslo, came to the United States and is listed on Ellis Island.  He loved holidays, New Orleans, the Renaissance Festival, and he collected Native American artifacts. 

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at First Methodist Alvin, 611 W. South St., Alvin, TX 77511, with the memorial service immediately to follow at 12:00 P.M.
