In Loving Memory

Roberto Rodriguez Ramirez

February 15, 1955 – May 21, 2023

May 21, 2023, Roberto Rodriguez Ramirez transcended into the loving arms of grace while in his Houston home. Roberto (Bob) was born February 15, 1955, to Johnny Ramirez and Hilda Rodriguez Ramirez in Harlingen, Texas. He is survived by his children Jon Ramirez, Kenni-Richelle King, and Katherine Ramirez, his four grandchildren, and many additional family members and friends.

Bob was a charismatic musician who dedicated much of his life to his art. And while his family could be considered biased, it could be said that watching him perform, when in his zone of genius, felt otherworldly – even to strangers. Though he often held jobs in sales and management, he continued to play gigs and his guitar until his fingers would no longer cooperate.

Bob was an out-of-the-box thinker who often challenged the status quo. He was a spiritual seeker, rebel, and lover of nature who enjoyed fishing. You could often find him reading or watching his favorite shows. He, like many of us, was challenged with vices due to friction between the harshness of the world and his inability to reconcile his sensitivity. We, his children, hope that his family and friends can forgive his trespasses and remember the good. During his sobriety, he was a leader in his community, sponsor in local AA groups, a businessman, and committed to “practicing random acts of kindness and senseless acts of beauty” and eating dessert first.

Since Bob was not a traditional man and refused to be put in a box, his children have chosen to honor his memory privately in lieu of a traditional memorial service. We plan to release his ashes somewhere beautiful with flowing water, while wearing purple (his favorite color). We ask that you honor his memory in a way that best honors your relationship with him. We invite those who would like to feel connected to him and each other, to light a candle for him on June 18th and send his soul a prayer, positive message, or light.

Absolutely beautiful words. My heart is so sorry for the loss of your father. He was a genuinely talented man. Like no other.
    May he rest in peace.

I was the drummer in his first band The Medieval Society and Uncle Charlie’s Blues band. We were young he was in middle school and we were a little bit older. He was a prodigy back then best lead player and all around musician. Loved the guy his dad was our promoter. Played gigs where ever we could get them even scared bars. Rest in Peace my old friend.

Robert will be greatly missed. He was the guitar player and singer for my first band. He was a great musician! You can find some of his performances on YouTube under my first band's name and on this website
