May 11, 1945 – March 21, 2023
He is survived by his two daughters: Stacey Wendt of Pearland, TX, her husband Paul and their daughters Kyla and Katie, and Kelly Keller of Portland, OR and her daughters Greta and Adela.
Robert was born May 11, 1945, in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. After earning a Mechanical Engineering degree from Rutgers University, he was hired by Hamilton Standard and moved with his first wife Bonnie to Friendswood, TX, where his daughters were born and he was an integral part of space exploration for over 35 years, including space suit design dating back to the Apollo program.
A brilliant engineer, Bob was always curious and kept busy in retirement running experiments, inventing, and building in his garage, even in his last months. He was a staunch conservative and an animal lover who had many spoiled dogs, cats and even a pet goat over the years. Although very few got to hear him play, Bob was also a gifted violinist. He cared for others and loved his family deeply.
Special thanks to Maria Gentry for her many years of friendship and devotion to Bob and his family, and to The Oasis of Pearland and Traditions Health Hospice for their supportive and caring staff.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 1-3pm at Rancho Mexican Grill, 2131 W Parkwood Ave, Friendswood.
