June 23, 1944 – July 23, 2022
Robert Eugene Byus, age 78, of Lufkin, TX, passed away after a short illness on July 23, 2022. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert E. Byus, Sr., Beverly McBride, and brother Michael T. Byus. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charlotte Byus, sister Vickie Byus and brother Tim Byus. He leaves behind two daughters and sons-in-law Dianne Stevens Hendricks and Chris Hendricks and Rene Corgey Turner and Jason Turner. He was loved by his many grandchildren Joshua Matchette, Ashlynn Stevens, Emily Stevens, Jon Corgey, Tiffany Hendricks, Matthew Stevens and Josie Hendricks.
Born in Houston on June 23, 1944, Rob was the eldest of four children Robert and Beverly were blessed with. He attended San Jacinto High School in Houston and competed in track and field.
Rob met Charlotte on the Salt Grass Trail Ride in 1965. They married shortly after and built a home to start raising their family in Houston. Rob’s work for Ford Motor Company took the family to many places, and they made countless life-long friends in Houston, Hearne, Beaumont, Clear Lake, and League City. In retirement, they also spent time in Bolivar Peninsula and Blanco.
Rob was an avid outdoorsman and loved sharing time with his wife and daughters going, river tubing, water skiing, sailing, playing softball, going camping, and fishing. In later years, he followed his grandchildren into all their activities: raising animals in FFA, baseball, cheerleading, basketball, youth rodeo, skateboarding, and football. He swelled with pride for his grandchildren and would eagerly share a story of their latest adventures.
Professionally, Rob spent many years as president of the Ford Parts & Service Manager Association. Personally, he was a tireless volunteer with the Lions Club and supported many youth-oriented charitable events. He fished with the Kellogg Fishing club and enjoyed volunteering with the Clear Creek FFA when his girls were in high school.
Rob was generous in spirit and never met a stranger. He loved sharing a good story, grilling the perfect steak, catching and frying fish, playing a good game of golf, woodworking, entertaining and spending time with family and friends. He will be missed in innumerable ways by those who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Jeter Funeral Home at 311 N. Friendswood Dr. Friendswood, TX 77546 on July 27, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm.
Graveside service will be officiated by The Rev. Jim Nelson at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, 7801 Gulf Freeway, Dickinson, TX on July 28, 2022 at 10:00 am.

I have so many great memories working with the BOSS MAN throughout the years, he will truly be missed.
Ms Charlotte you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time
I believe it was Charlotte who first applied the name " The Lost Boys Club ". Being one half of the two man organization brought me the most happy, the most scary, the most funny, the most proud, and now the most emotional days of my life.
Bob and I shared the love of business, guns, fishing, travel, and fast Fords. Those things may fade now, but with the memories that Bob left with me, I'll never miss them…
Certainly, sincere condolences for all who loved Bob
Sad to learn of Rob's passing. I enjoyed our days of golfing together . Our thoughts and prayers for you and family.
