January 20, 1952 – April 7, 2025
Richard “Dick” J. Rowan, of Friendswood, Texas, found peace on Monday, April 7, 2025 after his third and final battle with pneumonia. He joins his son Jared (7/31/83 – 6/18/2000) who preceded him in departure from this world. Dick’s life was one of empathy and selfless dedication to his children and family. His love, kindness and humor touched the lives of friends and family alike.
Dick is survived by his wife, Lydia, his sons, Brandon and Douglas, and his granddaughter Ava Marie; his sister, Ruth Rogers(David); sisters-in-law, Irma Parkin(Derral), Diana Lum(Rocky); brother-in-law, Benny Sirio; nieces, Megan Rogers, Ragae Eskander, Emily Ontiveros(Ricardo) and Montana Gonzales(Ryan); nephews, Martin Rogers, Randall Sanchez, Jacob Sanchez, Jeremy Siro and Seth Miller; and many other relatives and cherished friends.
Dick was born to Helen and Laurence Rowan in 1952 in Rochester, NY. He graduated with honors from Chili High School in 1969, where he ran track and field. He obtained a bachelor of science in biology from Albany State University in 1973.
After college, he worked as a pharmaceutical rep in New York and Massachusetts. In 1980, Dick moved to Houston to take a position with Exxon in their Research and Engineering Department. He transferred to the Butyl Polymers plant in Baytown, where he worked until his retirement in 2008.
In 1981, he married Lydia Sirio and moved to Friendswood, where they raised their three sons, Jared, Brandon and Douglas. Dick resided in Friendswood until his final days.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. with the funeral service to begin at 12:30 P.M. at Friendswood Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 505 Deseret Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Bishop Todd Horman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
