Mr. Longest was my home room teacher in high school and a fellow South Park Baptist Church member. He was always smiling or cracking a joke and seldom ever raised his voice. As a smug teenager, I thought he was kind of corny.
As the years passed, I realized how profound it was that he was always smiling-EVEN AT ROWDY TEENAGERS! What a witness he was! The love of Jesus shone through in that smile! He was one of a kind and he will certainly be missed. Prayers for your comfort, Mrs. Rae.
Rae, I am do very sorry for your loss. Prentiss was acrsy of sunshine for everyone who knew him.
One of the few teachers I remember from high school- he made such a lasting impression. Gentle, patient, always kind, and definitely one of the best story tellers ever. I know he is sitting at the feet of Jesus and rejoicing on His glory.
Mr. Longest was such a fine gentleman that shared his joy with others. He was such a wonderful example of a loving Christian man. He will be greatly missed.

Praying for peace and comfort for you Ms Rae Longest. Mr.Longest was one of my favorite teachers of all time. He had a way of breaking down math problems so even I could understand them. I know I would not have passed Algebra or Geometry if I would've had another teacher. I loved his corny jokes, his witty sayings, and that huge smile.
Mrs. Longest, your husband had such a huge impact on my life. He is the reason I became a teacher. He was so genuine in his love for students and the passion for his craft. So much of my classroom presence, delivery, and approach to students has been modeled after his example. I am currently in my 38th year of teaching. Whenever my students ask why I became a teacher, I always tell them about Mr. Longest. I want them to know his name and the legacy he provided.
