Phyllis Marline Barton, passed away peacefully on the evening of August 31, 2025 at the age of 86.
Born March 22, 1939 in the Sheldon area of Houston, Texas to Stanley Bennett Sealy and Lois Isabel Smith Sealy, she was a lifelong resident of Sheldon. She was the 3rd child of 13 siblings. She is survived by 4 sisters (Sissy, Sharron, Sarah, and Nancy) and 3 brothers (Buddy, Dickie, and Randy). She was proceeded in death by 4 sisters (Bobbi, Beverly, Alice, and Kathy) and 1 brother (Bubba) as well as her parents.
She graduated in 1957 from C.E. King High School where she was a cheerleader and great softball player. She coached in and was president of Sheldon Little League Girls Softball for many years as well as being the Houston area district administrator. She was a teachers aide for about 30 years in Sheldon ISD.
One of her greatest accomplishments was raising four boys, born within a 27 month period, to adulthood!!
Besides her family, to which she was a devoted mom and granny, her two greatest passions were the Houston Astros and animals of all kinds. Most days she was either watching her Astros play or spending time in the barn and pasture with the various farm animals she loved. She also loved spending time with her sisters, especially on their “sister trips”.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Rodney Bedford Barton, and her grandson Jacob Blackwell. She is survived by her 4 sons and their wives, Kent (Kristen), Tracy (Debbie), Johnie (Janice), and Donnie (Lisa). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren (Katie, Emily, Jake, Cody, Josh, Casey, Kyle, Kevin, Kasidie, Glen, and Kade) and 17 great grandchildren (Sloane, Jackson, Alyssa, Jaxon, Noah, Logan, Laini, Easton, Amelia, Hannah, Travis, Kase, Lilly, Hudson, Millie, Kaston, and River) and 2 future great grandkids (Kali and Kallum).
Visitation will be held Sept 9, 2025 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Jeter Funeral Home, 311 N Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, Texas. Her graveside service will be that same day at 2 PM at South Park Cemetery, 1310 N Main St, Pearland, Texas
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any who feels led, donate to the Houston SPCA, Houston Humane Society, or a local animal shelter of your choice.

I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Poo’s passing. She was like my 2nd mom when I was younger. Lots of good memories with her, Uncle Rodney and the boys. I know my little momma will be greeting her with open arms.
