Morris Witten Browne

March 25, 1947 – August 25, 2023

Morris Witten Browne of Houston, TX, graduated to Heaven August 25, 2023, at the VA Hospital in Houston, TX. He was 76. Morris was born on March 25, 1947, to parents Glen Mason Browne and Hortence Ann Browne in Houston, TX.

Morris graduated from Alvin High School in 1965. He then entered the Marines and served two tours of duty in Vietnam where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Gallantry Cross.

After serving in the Marines, he returned to Houston and earned his Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston. He worked in that field for several years before studying and becoming a Financial Advisor. Morris loved studying the markets to determine the next trend that would help his clients with their investments. He enjoyed educating people about the stock market. He loved working with his clients. At his passing he was still an active Financial Advisor for Ameriprise.

He married the love of his life, Charlene Browne, in 2005. They had just celebrated their eighteenth wedding anniversary. They enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and going to cultural and sporting events.

Morris loved history and was an avid reader and loved to learn. Before his fight with cancer began five years ago, he and Charlene enjoyed a trip to Boston where they saw the USS Constitution and walked the Freedom Trail. Morris’ latest hobby was finding blown glass artist and obtaining small and large works of art.

Morris was a determined fighter who never complained. He battled various forms of cancer for the last five years with the compassionate care of the doctors and nurses at the VA Hospital in Houston.

Morris always had a smile and loved to tease. He was always ready to give a helping hand to someone in need. He was a kind, caring, supportive husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Browne, and mother Hortence Browne. Also preceding him in death were two brothers Glenn Browne and Hamilton Browne and his sister, Sharon Turpin.

Morris is survived by his wife, Charlene Browne of Houston, TX, his beloved son, Mason Browne of Stafford, TX, and his children by marriage Beka Elkins of Washington, Ron and Terri Elkins with grandson, Alex of Manvel, TX. He is also survived by two brothers, Paul and Malcolm Browne and many nieces and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Pierce, Mason Browne, Ron Perkins, Ron Elkins, Tommy Peebles, Chris Bridges, Jon Curless, Alex Elkins, and Gary Brown.

Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, August 31, 2023, at 12:00 P.M. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood Texas 77546. (281) 992-7200 with Rev. John Gilligan officiating.

    never forget the hundreds of letters I wrote to you while you were in Viet Nam. We continue our own paths in life but never lost touch. Love you my friend. Now and always. Condolences to the family. My heart hurts !
