November 9, 1940 – April 7, 2024
Miguel “Mike” Gonzalez Jr., 83, passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 7, 2024 in Friendswood, Texas. He was born on November 9, 1940 to Miguel and Virginia Gonzalez in Lamesa, Texas. On December 26, 1995, he married the love of his life Thelma L. Gonzalez in McAllen, Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma; his children Cynthia (Noe) Aguirre, Cid (Suzie) Nolan, Orlando (Marilda) Gonzalez, and Crystal (Tommy) Sierra; his grandchildren Zeniah, Daliah, Angelica, Michael, Gabriella and Francesca; his siblings Noe (Mirea) Gonzalez, Ann (Rudy) Ramusack, Eva Mendoza, Abel (Ursula) Gonzalez; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandparents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Before retirement, he was a teacher, counselor, principal and ended his career as a field service agent providing training for school board members and superintendents. He was a huge advocate for all children, especially children who came from underserved communities. He loved traveling the world with his wife and telling loved ones all about his adventures. His proudest accomplishments were being the most loving husband, dad, and Grandpa/Gramps.
He was loved by so many and will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 15, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Rev. Charles Garrett officiating.
