In Loving Memory

Mark Daley Zeitler

February 16, 1967 – March 25, 2023

Mark Daley Zeitler was born to Edward Oliver Zeitler and Lorna Daley Zeitler on February 16, 1967, in Houston, Texas.  Mark grew up in Friendswood, and at a young age learned to love reading and would always be found with his nose in a book.  He remained passionate about reading throughout his life.  As a child Mark and his big brother Scott grew up in a tight-knit community of families whose parents worked at NASA with his father and developed many relationships that he maintained throughout his life.  Mark attended and graduated from Friendswood High School where he ran cross-country and was active in the Boy Scouts of America, achieving the rank of Life Scout.  He practiced martial arts and was a skilled competitor, eventually becoming a Taekwondo champion.  Shortly after graduating from high school, Mark moved to Louisiana and attended Southeastern Louisiana University.  While in Louisiana, Mark met and married his wife Aimee on August 4, 2001, and shortly thereafter began his career at Hibernia Bank.  In 2004, Mark accepted a promotion and returned to the Houston area, relocating to Missouri City.  In 2007, Mark welcomed his son Matthew into the world and continued advancing his career, accepting a position as vice president at Regions Bank where he earned awards and recognition for going above and beyond to help individuals start small businesses, particularly those in underserved communities.  Mark’s family continued to grow with the birth of his daughter Robin in 2011 and he later left Regions to join Texas First Bank as a production officer and vice president, which he felt was like returning home to the community in which he had grown up.  Mark was president of the Missouri City Business Alliance and treasurer of the Fort Bend Corps and was a years-long member of Business Networking International and several chambers of commerce.  He served as a den leader and assistant scout master with Troop 828 at St. Laurence Catholic Church for nearly a decade and was dedicated to assisting the members of the troop in their scouting journey, particularly his son Matthew, who Mark helped guide to the rank of Eagle Scout, further strengthening their loving father-son bond.  Mark cherished his relationship with his daughter Robin, and always had time for walks to the park where they would fish or feed the ducks.  Mark was a leader, a gifted public speaker, and an avid golfer and hunter.  He loved spending time outdoors with his children and listening to Christian music and took great pleasure in barbecuing for friends and family.  He was truly a “people person” who never met a stranger and enjoyed engaging with others and cracking jokes.  Mark lived his life in service to his family and others, providing assistance whenever and wherever needed.  He was an amazing and dearly loved husband, father, brother and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lorna Zeitler and is survived by brother Scott, wife Aimee, son Matthew, daughter Robin, mother-in-law and father-in-law Patty and Terry Donahue, brothers-in-law Joe and Daniel Donahue, and niece Sadie Mae Donahue.

Friends are cordially invited to a memorial service Friday, April 14, 2023 at 5:00 P.M. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, Texas 77546 (281) 992-7200, followed by a reception at 304 Friends Knoll Lane, Friendswood, Texas.  Mark will be laid to rest at Hope Lutheran Church at a later date.

It’s been a long while since I had last talked with Mark. But it was never a doubt in my mind that if we ever met up again, the conversation would have began like it was just yesterday instead of 12 years ago.
The light in this world just got a little dimmer. You are going to be missed my friend.

Mark will be missed at the TFB-Pearland location by so many!! I have worked with Mark for 5 1/2 years. Every morning we would chat about life, his kids, (He was so proud of them). and work. He was a very smart and knowledgeable man; he could tell you some great stories!! I will miss him sooo much. Mark, thank you for just being you, a great co-worker, and a good friend. He had so many customers that saw him as a friend and not as lending officer.

The Zeitler family were our neighbors in the late seventies and Mark & Scott's Mom, Lorna was a dear friend ,who taught my daughter along with many other children in our community. His father, Ed served on the City Council for years. It is with a heave heart, that my deepest sympathy goes out to the family and I will continue to hold you in prayers.
May all God's comfort and strength be with you.
