September 3, 1947 – September 17, 2021
Our beloved, Marilyn Jennings Moravits, 74, of Houston, TX, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021. Her two year journey with uterine cancer led to complications she was not able to overcome, although she fought valiantly. Marilyn was born to Erwin Jennings and Esther Maune Jennings on September 3, 1947, the first of three children, in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ed Moravits, her sons Brian and Scott Moravits, and her grandson Alex Moravits.
Marilyn is survived in life by her five grandchildren Taylor, Noah, Chloe, Colton, and Kayci and her great-grandchildren Scott and Fynn, son to Noah, daughter of Chloe; sister Linda and brother-in-law Ronnie Bray, brother Bruce Jennings and sister-in-law Paula; daughter-in-law, Jeri Moravits, wife of Brian, nephew Todd Bray, nieces Traci Bray, Erin Richardson and Lindsey White; and many cherished cousins and friends.
The center of Marilyn's life revolved around her grandchildren and great grandchildren, family gatherings being her favorite type of event. She took care of them, putting their needs ahead of her own. Everyone who knew her saw her generosity and kindness in play. She was quick with a smile and quick with a laugh, easy to make conversation. Besides family, Marilyn had friends that dated back to school days, and co-workers that became life-long friends. She stayed in touch with her Oklahoma cousins even as her life in Houston was busy with work and kids. The connections with her loved ones proved strong and long.
After her husband's unexpected death in 1977, Marilyn began a work career at Ashland Chemical. She would stay there for over 40 years and retired in 2020. She made many treasured relationships at Ashland, and she was a valued employee, being asked to come back following retirement. If there was a sport Marilyn enjoyed, it would be bowling, following in her parents path, they were avid bowlers. She could also decide to jump into a backyard volleyball game with the kids. Marilyn was raised in the Methodist church and continued her faith in adulthood at Cokesbury United Methodist Church. She took great comfort in her God and in her family when faced with adversity or in time of celebrations. Her faith was a constant.
Marilyn's family will be available and are inviting friends to the visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 311 N. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX 77546 (281) 992-7200. The funeral service will follow visitation at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Emory Gadd officiating. A private interment at Forest Park Lawndale will be held at a later date.
The family would like to invite people to come by following the service to the home of Marilyn's brother Bruce Jennings.
Pallbearers will include Todd Bray, Jeremy Richardson, Adam White, Noah Moravits, Colton Moravits and Luke Richardson

Marilyn and I worked together for 14 YEARS @ Ashland, wonderful , dedicated, and she was outstanding as my right hand person. Rest in peace Marilyn, as you lay in the arms of our Lord. I love you. Tom
Marilyn was the most giving and loving person that I had the pleasure of friendship for over 25 years; beginning with her years at Ashland. Marilyn was always there to lend a hand with whatever you might need. She will be greatly missed and know that she is with our dear heavenly Father. Love you my friend! Allison
