May 28, 1932 – April 6, 2022
Louis B. "Buck" Skelton Jr., born May 28, 1932, went to fly with the angels Wednesday, April 6, 2022, at his home after a battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Buck was from Locker, Texas where he grew up. He graduated from Richland Springs High School where he ran track and played football. He won several medals in track. Before he moved to Alvin, Texas, he worked on a ranch in Sterling, Texas, then he moved to Bay City, Texas and began working for Magnobar. After a while, he and his family moved to Alvin and in 1962 when Monsanto was built and began operating, he started working there. He was an operator from 1962 until 1978. He then went into maintenance and eventually vibrations until his retirement in 1997.
The family would like to thank the people of Harbor Hospice for their kind and loving care over the last two years of Buck’s life. The family would especially like to thank Debbie Marino, Rebecca Rasberry, Rusty Cockrell, Debra Rodriguez, Charlie Green, and Dr. Sarwar.
Buck loved to dance and travel. He and his wife Barbara traveled to many states including Hawaii and Washington D.C. before 9/11. They went on a cruise to the Caribbean, Europe, and Alaska with a wonderful group of friends. His hobby was deer hunting. He would always go during Thanksgiving and Christmas break, but he always made sure he was home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day to celebrate with family. He loved sports and coached Little League football. On Saturday, he and his family would watch the University of Houston Cougars and Texas A&M Aggies games. On Sunday, he and his family would watch the Houston Oilers and eventually the Houston Texans. When his grandchildren started coming, he was ecstatic. Between Buck and Barbara, they had one granddaughter and seven grandsons.
