Lawrance “Larry” Charles Larson, 54 of Friendswood, Texas was born on July 1, 1969 in Austin, Texas. He went to be with the Lord on August 9, 2023 at UTMB, Webster Texas. Larry graduated from Friendswood High School in 1987. From a very young age Larry had a passion for cooking which led him to pursue a career in Culinary Arts. Larry attended The Art Institute Houston and obtained a degree of Applied Science in Culinary Arts in March 2001. Early in his career he assisted in the opening of the Aquarium Restaurant at the Kemah Boardwalk. Larry then went on to be Sous Chef at the The Downtown Club – Houston Center until 2005. He continued his passion in Culinary Arts at Menninger Clinic from 2007 to 2013, Cornerstone Hospital from 2014 to 2019 and UTMB from 2019 to 2023.
Larry enjoyed volunteering and providing services to the church by planning, organizing, and preparing exquisite meals at the church rectory for special occasions, such as dinners for Bishops, Clergy and Laity. He also volunteered his time and talent for multiple church functions involving food preparation and banquets.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and missioned in the men’s ACTS retreats.
Larry is fondly remembered for treating our family to exquisitely prepared Thanksgiving dinners. He was a longtime fan of the Houston Astros and enjoyed attending the games.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert W. Larson. He is survived by his mother JoAnne R. Larson, brother Jeff Larson and his wife Shannon, brother Ron Larson and wife Mitzie, nephews and nieces: Elizabeth Melendez and husband Diego, their sons, Anthony and Robby, Megan Campos and husband Carlos, their daughter Brecken, William Larson and wife Jessica, Emily Devine and husband Lucas, their daughter Rose and son Jamison, Rocky Larson and Blake Larson, as well as many relatives and friends.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at 10:00 A.M., Rosary will be recited at 10:30 A.M. with the Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 A.M. at Mary Queen Catholic Church, 606 Cedarwood Dr. Friendswood, Texas 77546 with Rev. James H. Kuczynski, M.S. officiating. A luncheon will follow afterwards in the Parish Hall.
