In Loving Memory

Kevin Kinchen

September 22, 1960 – January 3, 2022

Kevin Kinchen was born on September 22, 1960 at Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Houston, TX to Choice Roy Jr. and Shirley Kinchen. On January 3, 2022, after a 15 year battle with ALS, Kevin was victorious as he went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by Margie Kinchen, his wife of 42 years; his son Jared and daughter-in-law Rachel Kinchen and 6 grandchildren, Kallan, Kooper, Konnor Kamden, Kohen, and Georgia; his son Josh and daughter-in-law Lauren Kinchen and grandchildren Jett and Jade; his daughter Courtney and son-in-law Jayce Fregia and grandchildren Adalie and Judah; his brother Kendall and sister-in-law Ginger Kinchen; and his brother Choice Roy III and sister-in-law Trudy Kinchen.

Kevin’s life told a beautiful story of God’s undeserving but all sufficient grace. As a teenager, Kevin surrendered his life to God and committed himself to ministry. Throughout his ministry, from mountaintop high’s to valley storms, Kevin remained faithful in sharing the true hope that is only found in Christ Jesus with the world around him.

This faithful commitment to ministry looked different throughout his life. From pastoring a church in Nederland, TX, carrying a cross that represented salvation from coast to coast, leading youth and camp ministries at LS Church, traveling the world to share Jesus with people he had never met, to finally typing emails that shared the love of Christ till his toes turned blue, he was faithful day in and day out to his calling.

Because of his faithfulness, many people were led to the saving grace of Christ Jesus. Kevin would be quick to remind us, “to God be the glory”. While we mourn for our loss of him on this earth, we rejoice alongside him knowing that he was welcomed with arms wide open by his Savior Jesus Christ, hearing the words, “Well done thy good and faithful servant.”

“For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:6-8 ESV
