In Loving Memory

Kevin Andrew Varnes

December 30, 1974 – August 19, 2023

Kevin Andrew Varnes passed away on August 19, 2023, in Houston, TX at the age of 48.  The meaning of “Kevin” is “kindhearted” which he displayed throughout his Earthly life.

Kevin was born to Robert “Bobby” and Maureen Varnes in Houston, TX and in 1977 the Varnes family moved to Pearland, TX.  Kevin grew up playing baseball and football at the Dads Club and basketball for the YMCA.  He went on to play all three sports at Pearland High School.  Kevin attended the University of Houston where he played baseball for one season under the same coach his father played for at Jesse H Jones High School.  Kevin had a deep love for baseball, the Houston Astros and thoroughly loved coaching his son, Tucker, in little league.  He enjoyed playing golf, was an expert at Golden Tee, competitive in fantasy football and had a passion for fishing all night long at the family’s bay house.  Kevin’s charm, charisma and overall great personality landed him sales roles with companies who celebrated his successes. Ultimately Kevin’s most important role in life was being a father to his two children who he loved with all his heart.

Kevin is survived by his two children Skyler and Tucker Varnes, their mother Michelle Varnes, his parents Robert Allen and Maureen Varnes, sisters Kimberly Ann Girouard and Kristen Alyce Mikhail, brother-in-law Patrick Mikhail, nieces Jordyn and Kendal Girouard, nephew Lucas Girouard and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Jeffrey L Girouard, both sets of grandparents, Herbert Leroy and Iris Ann Varnes, Raymond Thomas and Opal Beryl Wuensch, his cousin Jonathan Edward Wuensch and his godmother and aunt, Donna Margaret Wuensch.

Kevin’s Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023 at The Historic Sylvan Beach Pavilion (indoors) located in La Porte, TX from 2:00-6:00 pm (please come casual).  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Bay Area Recovery Center.  We will have a setup at the celebration, or you may mail to:  BARC c/o Kevin Varnes 4316 Washington Street, Dickinson, TX 77539.

  7. My heart goes out to the entire family! Kevin Varnes has always had the most kind soul. From the time we were kids, throughout High School, Sports, and on into the Dental world. We would catch up with me at a show or class reunion and he was always smiling. This is how I will always remember him! Cheers to a great man gone too early! See you in Heaven some day soon my friend and until then Rest In Peace Brother!
