Kenneth Robert Collins

February 29, 1940 – February 2, 2022

Ken Collins of Friendswood, Tx passed away February 3, 2022 surrounded by family. Born in Houston to John Ray (Rip) and Martha Josephine Collins. He was one of 4 siblings.

Ken graduated from Mt. Carmel HS 1st graduating class in 1958. He went on to play basketball at St. Thomas University. After a short career coaching basketball at Mt. Carmel HS, he went to work for Rex Supply in outside sales until his retirement. Basketball was his game and he always looked forward to March Madness. He loved spending time with family especially the grandkids, reading and golf.

In 1967 he married his wife Jacki Blaha Collins and just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. They had 2 sons Thad and Kent.

He is survived by his wife, Jacki, son Thad and wife Tracy, grandson Kadin, granddaughter McKensie, son Kent, grandson Cayson, granddaughter Kennedy, sister Martha Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, JR and Tommy.

A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 A.M. Wednesday February 16, 2022 at St. Helen's Catholic Church located at 2209 Old Alvin Road Pearland, Texas 77581 Rev. Jim Courville, officiating. A reception will follow at Golfcrest Country Club located at 2509 Country Country Club, Dr. 77581

    He was a terrific man. He coached me in high school for my freshman and JV teams. I remember he always had a little hop in his step as he walked into the gym. He also had that little grin and twinkle in his eyes, even while running us forever in practice. We all loved him so much.
