July 19, 1935 – January 4, 2022
The family of Karolena Joyce Harris of Friendswood announce her passing on January 4, 2022 at the age of 86. Karolena, "K", was born in Alexander, Kansas. She grew up in Friendswood and graduated from Friendswood High School. She was a student, member of the "Singing Quakers" and Homecoming Queen while attending Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. She graduated with a degree in Music and began teaching music and choir in Elkhart Kansas in 1958.
K spent most of her teaching career in the Clear Creek Independent School District at Ross Elementary. Friendswood Texas is where K and her husband Kenton raised their two children, Kevin and Kelly. They were married for 62 beautiful years. K was a loving Mom and Grandma. She was Choir Director, Youth Group leader and a Soloist in the Friendswood Friends Church for many years.
K was a devoted friend to many. She was a school and multi-school choir director and firmly believed in passing Christian values to all in song and in her work. She had a substantial influence on children and students in school and church. K had a profound influence on her sons, spending time away from teaching and raising two boys with whom she lavished her time and attention to include a lot of fun and at least an equal amount of education; both actually singing before they could talk.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenton Dale Harris; her parents, W.L Boyle and Marie Davis Boyle.
K is survived by her two sons and families, Kevin Sean Harris and wife Mary Lasley Shoults Harris, and grandsons, James Michael and wife Katrisha and Kenton Ray Harris and wife Vy; Kelly Don Harris and wife Shannon Raye Knowles Harris, and grandson Chase Conner Harris.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Friends Cemetery, 502 S. Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546 with Rev. Bobby Kirkpatrick officiating.

My condolences to the entire family. I was blessed to meet Kay Harris thru her medical treatments. She shared her love for her family and her love of God. She was always smiling even when she didn’t feel well or life wasn’t going smoothly. She was a beautiful lady.
My God’s peace and strength be with you. Cherish your Irish as she did with a song in your heart.

Kay was a dear friend, so beautiful inside and out. She had a wonderful outgoing personality and her smile and laughter could light up any room. I was blessed to sing beside her in the Friends Church Choir and enjoy her beautiful voice and share her love of music. Her devotion to her parents and to her family were unmatched. Her physical presence will be greatly missed and my deepest condolences to her family. I know Kenton welcomed her into her heavenly home with open arms.
