July 5, 1955 – June 28, 2023
Karen Marie Cowan, 67, passed away on June 28, 2023. She was born on July 5, 1955 to Charles E. Cowan, Jr. and Margaret Mongonia Cowan in Houston, Texas.
Karen was preceded in death by her mother and father, Charles and Margaret Cowan and is survived by her three brothers, Johnny, Robert, and Tommy Cowan. Karen was such a pure soul; her happiness and laugh were so contagious. It was always so easy to make her happy, taking pleasure in the little things. She was always smiling and loved to have her picture taken!
As a young girl she loved jigsaw puzzles. The fact that she could do them faster than her 2 little brothers was a source of pride and teasing.
She loved her parties at Hope Village, especially Halloween. She was the constant hugger! A friend would walk in with one of her brothers, and once you said, “this is my sister Karen”, she was over there giving them a bear hug as if they were long lost friends who haven’t seen each other in years. She loved road trips; her little suitcase would be packed, and she was ready to go. You just could tell her that “we are going to see Johnny & Carol.” If you did, everyone at Hope Village knew where she was going. She was able to tell us the make and model of the cars on the road and she was right. On holidays where gifts were involved, it wasn’t so much what was in the box as it was the thrill opening the box.
She was very much the busy body. Watching what everyone else was doing. She was more than happy to tell others her opinion, whether they wanted it or not.
She loved going to lunch (Casa Ole’ being her favorite) getting her nails done and going shopping.
She was all girl, pink being her favorite color. She was never “dressed” until she had her cool sunglasses, jewelry on, and her purse. And you never saw her without a stuffed friend.
Friends are cordially invited to the visitation with the family on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Chuck Turner officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas.
